Sweet Olive (Osmanthus Fragrans)

For several months I've had a sweet olive in a terra cotta pot because I wanted to be able to move it from place to place. However, the plant certainly isn't thriving. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether it would do better in ground??? ...and if so...sunny? Shady? By itself or in a grouping with other plants?? Does it like lots of water? Would appreciate ideas.... We're in Central Brevard...zone 9 (but more often a 9b + )
