I think that the daylily that wasn't Purple Kaboom, really is. The first picture is the original and the second picture is the replacement.

Very striking picture of NWD! You have, in the past, noted that scapes on NWD are sometimes not as strong as you would like. What is your most recent evaluation?

Nancy - Thanks for posting your photo of Buzz Saw. Since this was my first bloom on the plant, I was expecting some giant teeth every time. I guess it's just the combination of extreme heat and humidity that grew those choppers extra big. Yesterday I used every grain of pollen that baby had on my other toothy guys. Julia - Here Purple Badger has brown undertones, and I wasn't happy with the first few blooms. It's looking better, but nowhere close to Jamie's photo. I was interested in it because it was toothed daylily with Court Magician, my favorite Munson, in the background. So far, I would rate Gossard's toothed cultivars far below the Southern-bred Hansens and Salters. The color clarity is simply not there. I've had Sun Bear for four years and the color never got better on that one. It's brown here - not plum. I guess I'm on a Gossard rant right now. Lavender Curls has a beautiful bloom, but the scapes are weak and won't hold them up. The only Gossard I have that I'm happy with so far is Beaded Light. That one is just beaatiful in a clump and has great plant habits. Debra

Thanks everyone!! If it wasn't for Seil, my pics would still be just point and click! Seil, your pictures just look so real! Thanks for the Inspiration!! Nummy, the lawn edging is done with concrete pavers that fit into each other. The nice thing about them is that you can do curves as well. The main reason for the edging is so that the bot can cut all the way to the edge. 'Henry' and his big brother have been doing our lawns since last year lol. And what a pleasure - no more grass cuttings and no more edges to do!! rosecanadian, LOTS AND LOTS of dandelions and other stuff. We live sort of in the country and the farmer next door has a field which he just leaves to grow wild. Quite pretty with all the wild flowers. It isn't so bad now that the lawn is established. Here you can see the field behind the irises.

These are all lovely, but there is no doubt in my mind that if I had a spot with afternoon shade I would have Grandmother's Hat. Her blooms did not last even half a day in the sunny spot I had her, but how I'd love to see her in the right place.

A peony ring is a must for North Wind Dancer. I saw a clump blooming on the ground at a local garden on the weekend.

A mini bagel seedling was blooming too. The cross is Fairest of Them X JT Davis. It is the first seedling to bloom where I made the cross in my garden. I have posted pictures of this one before.

They are all lovely but Cynthia Louise Valente really does stand out. How is the scape height, bud count, etc on it?

I've always admired your VL crosses. Very nice.

Cynthia Louise Valente is registered at 23" with a 14+ bud count. It is its first year in my garden so I don't know how it will do.

My NWD does nor require any support. Very upright and self supporting scapes here.

Edward, your blooms and your photographs are always lovely but I think your photograph of Cynthia Louise Valente is one of the prettiest I have seen of any bloom. It looks as if it is perfect.

I also like the seedlings.
