Help me ID this herb please? (forgetful!)

I planted this last summer and never wrote down the name-- got it at the farmer's market on the urging/advice of the person I bought it from. It's lovely! But what is it? (Not the nasturtium, I know that one. Also know the lemon balm in the background. I'm talking about the plant in the foreground on the left.)

Lavender. Rosemary is supposed to be good for the memory so maybe you could plant some of that too :)

Aha, you are right! The white flowers threw me. Thanks, and I do have some Rosemary I started from seed! It's tiny like my memory right now, but hopefully both will grow! :-)

Second looks like Stinging Nettles. I just got some in the mail! Supposed to make a great tea for arthritis. Please wear gloves when handling it! It is called Stinging Nettles for a reason!! Also read if you boil it like spinach the stinger part disappears and it tastes like spinach. Definitely not something you want to seed into your yard! The last picture looks like peppermint to me. It makes a nice tea. I found out the hard way that herb teas are clear. Not brown like regular teas. Tasty with a little honey added.

Thanks to you all for your input. I have been searching everything you suggested. trianglejohn, You hit the nail on the head!! That's it. My MG advisor couldn't identify it but said it made a wonderful tea like camomiile. This is his quote, "Has all the wonderful affects of marijuana without the side effects and is legal."

Just so you know, an herb botanically speaking is a plant whose stem does not produce woody, persistent tissue and generally dies back at the end of each growing season. But common usage is a plant used for dying, culinary, or medicinal purposes. If you go by the first definition, any plant lacking a permanent woody stem (like a tree) could be used for your project. If you go by common usage, thyme, sage, lavender, and rosemary are all commonly available herbs and either have low water needs and/or can tolerate lack of water for longer periods of time. One of your key things over Christmas break is that the plants will need a windowsill or good lighting (like grow lights) otherwise the water won't make much difference. Most herb plants have high light requirements otherwise they will die. I hope this helps! FataMorgana

It looks like lavender except WHITE flowers ?
Isn't lavender supposed to have purple/lavender flowrs?
Well, maybe it is like ROSE which originally was just red then you have a BLACK one too.
ROSES ARE RED VIOLETS ARE BLUE..

I'm not familiar with the English name of that herb, but certainly that is "Hagonoy" in Philippine local dialect.

Please people - believe me. It's lavender. It comes in white as well as the more usual lavender. This is in zone 4. Not the Philippines. Look at the images on this website.

Those could be flower buds, soon to bloom into lavender-colored flowers. Anyway, it's lavender. Rub the leaves to bring out the scent.

I'd love to know how you kept your Lavender going through a Z4 winter- I've killed it a couple of times here in z5b and want it to grow grow grow like it does in my other home Northern California :D

I've had one venerable plant now for 10 years. I used to be zone 5 until a re-zoning a few years back and I'm now technically zone 6 but it's hit or miss what zone 6 plants will work for me.

Sooooooo the secret - drainage - especially in the winter. Plus you need to stick to the most hardy of the lavenders like "munstead."

Thank you fatamorgana! I lived in zone 8 in Nor Cal and I miss the things that stay perennial there like rosemary and lavender.

I have a large lavender plant and I am in Ann Arbor, Mi, (zone 5?) that I bought from a favorite place of mine down south. www.tastefulgarden.com. It is an English lavender and it obviously does very well up here.
