Lots of Blooms now!!!

My gardens were just going crazy when I got back from my trip. Now, I realized I haven't posted any of my own. LOL too busy with posting all those Florida daylilies.

This seems to have been an exceptionally good year with only 12 daylilies that didn't show up this summer. That is far better than last year. Here are some of my favorites.

I have South Seas planted close to my Trumpet Vine, and I love the way they go together. the bloom color is almost a perfect match. Often the trumpet vine blooms will fall all around the South Seas, and it is very pretty!

Here is my coffee bench!!! You can see my massive trumpet vine, but I love it and the hummingbirds love it too! Sorry about the bucket there!!! I am always doing that!

I know Bowie missed me when I was gone, he was following me closely!!!

I am expecting an Iris order soon, so I had to thin out some of them to make room for the new ones!! I am gonna stick in a few daylilies there too!!! Figure it would be good to break up the iris a bit!!

My Oriental Lilies have just started, and boy do they smell good. I just love them!!!

I also had a few visitors, it is one reason I would never get rid of all the purple coneflower. !!! cindy

Cindy - Those are some beauties! I think LEE PICKLES is my favorite. Mine had trouble over the winter and hasn't bloomed. So I enjoyed seeing yours. That is a good color match with South Seas and the trumpet vine! And I always enjoy a good Bowie photo. Thanks for sharing your pics!

Love it all. Love the butterfly and Bowie (we missed Bowie pictures LOL) and especially the gorgeous trumpet vine. Your not the only one making more room for iris, I am too. Have my new iris bed all ready for planting. And my trumpet lilies are smelling fantastic also. Love those trumpet lilies and the trumpet hybreds.

All the daylilies are gorgeous. My favorite is DUCKS LUCK. I remember it from you posting last year as I thought the name was so unusual :-))

You are correct Meharty...Deadheading spent blooms on Clematis or any plant for that matter only helps the plant to focus on growing more leaves,vines and flowers...for a plant to make seeds takes energy away from the other chores..so, if you haven't any need for the seed heads ..it's best to deadhead..Jeanne

Thanks Debra. As always, that daylily blooms as if it were on steroids. The blooms are always perfect. Jean, I posted El Desperado just for your benefit since you asked for it. Mantis I bought Noah Weston from Marietta Daylilies in September 2008. Although it doesn't say on the sales ticket, I am pretty sure it was one of the Shooter's intros. It is, as it appears to be, a soft delicate white with delicate pink edges. Every bloom is perfect. It is an early morning opener. 26" tall but with a modest number (12 to 14). of 6.5 to 7" blooms. I suspect it is another (Pink Gingham was one) the Shooters just discontinued. It has much thinner substance than Garrett Mason, but lovely color. Rita, you know I love BFD, and this is the first time it has re-bloomed for me to my delight. Thank you all for looking and commenting. kay

Cindy- I always love your garden shots. You backyard is so pretty. Glad to see Bowie is still enjoying the garden. and I am glad to hear that you have found some more spots for daylilies. My very favorite by a mile of your blooms here is Mama's Hot Chocolate. What a lovely color. You know I never even thought about brown daylilies but I flipped over MILK CHOCOLATE when it was posted and now I have flipped over Mama's Hot Chocolate. I must like brown daylilies and I didn't even know!

Celeste - Empire of Desire takes awhile to open, but it does open flat here by 10 a.m. I hope your carved daylilies will open well this year. We always like to give them more chances to perform well. I usually give my splotchies and poor openers four years before moving them out. Debra

That Kansas Kitten daylily is a true winner. Beautiful colors.

I love your oriental lilies. Your iris bed looks great!

Is trumpet vine invasive? I've been planning out what to grow on the pergola and thought just to use clematis since the spent flowers aren't messy. Your trumpet vine looks wonderful so would like to hear about your experience with it.

Lovely photos and of course, love the Bowie pics.

Open my eyes looks terrific!

I like your trumpet lilies as well and the coneflower.. most of mine are not coming this year as they were got to early by the deer..

Very pretty butterfly photo. Bowie is my favorite. :) I have a lot of these and love them all, but the ones that I don't have are Little Rainbow, Duck's Luck and Toss Of The Dice. They are all really pretty.
We're trying to get a new bed ready here for irises also. I have several on the way.

I would spend a lot of time sitting on that bench!

I love the oriental lilies and Pumpkin Kid. I never get tired of seeing PK bloom.

Beautiful! I got Duck's Luck last year and I think I like it better than Destined to See. Was always going to get PK but haven't yet. Judy

Julia, YES trumpet vine is invasive. I will just get it out there; however, I do love it. I have one on each end of my patio, and when I sit on the patio, the hummingbirds will dart between the two vines, rushing right in front of me as they dart under the patio cover. It is just so cool. I started this one years ago with a start from my sister in law who thought I was crazy. anyway, I constantly dig out all runners. They are easy to spot and I am able to keep it under control. I also trim it back considerably in early spring before it starts to leaf out. I will notice runners especially after a rainy day, they just seem to pop up. The other thing is that the runners can be a surprising distance from my main vine. I will also tell you that the runners tend to come up in the same locations, so I know where to look, and I never let them get a head start. I dig down just a bit with a pair of clippers and try to get as much as the root as possible, sometimes they are very close to other plants. So, I guess it depends what you want. If it is away from other garden beds, then I say go for it. They grow quickly. also there is a yellow version, but I have never seen it in person, only in magazines, catalogs. Your pergalo should be beautiful no matter what you plant.

Cindy, I love Ducks Luck and Open My Eyes.. Your garden looks fab and like a place to be. I have a bucket or two hanging around to so it's no problem for me. All your daylilies look fantastic as does Bowie..

Kay, the trumpet vine is invasive here but maybe not in other climates....Ellie

Love Open My Eyes & True Blue Heart. I have Jamaican Me Crazy, but it hasn't bloomed yet. Hope it looks as great as yours.

I really like Duck's Luck and Toss of the Dice, but my favorite photo is that of your bench and garden. What a lovely spot to sit and relax and enjoy the beauty around you!
