Another Mystery Plant

I have a plant that someone from a MSN Group was kind enough to send me last summer. It was a very young one off of the mother plant. Seems it grows like a spider plant. I almost lost it during some hard freezes this winter tho it was covered, but it came back. No one including the woman who sent it to me knows what it is. It loves full sun as well as partial shade. The main top part fell off, and I just stuck it in some soil, and it took off again very well. It sitll has babies on it with roots as well as growing new runners out of the main plant. It definitely needs to be a hanging plant. I am leaving the link to my photobucket to show you what it looked like when I first got it,..when it started growing runners, and what it looks like now. Can anyone help us find out just what this is? I've run around in circles trying to find out.

I knew it as basket plant, so it's good to have the botanical.;o) Thanks, turtlewalker.
It makes a good ground cover where I am and has a nice scent.

Looks very much like the oenothera that I have. It could be O. fruticosa but one of the experts might be able to tell you for sure.

Yes, North Texas. You are good! The leaves aren't the same and the color of the bloom is lighter than the photo, but it's very, very close. Thank you! Back again. I looked at all the sphaeralcea on the usda site, and think it is either sphaeralcea incana or sphaeralcea hastulata. I'll take another photo when it blooms again. I mowed one down yesterday that may have had buds or seeds on it. I'll go around the next one.

Evelyn gave me a piece of this and I put it in my front bed, which receives sun only early in the day. The rest of the day is filtered sunlight and/or shade. Mine is very tall now (over 2 feet) and has put out some runners with new plants on the end. It stays a bright green in the shade, which I like very much. It hasn't bloomed for me yet, so I'm still waiting on the "fragrans" part. So far, I like it a lot!

Thank you all so much for being able to indentify this, and so quickly!! You have no idea how many have tried to find what this was. Ya know what's kinda funny, is I have a wandering jew plant in a large pot right there in the same flower garden, and tho I kept thinking how the runners looked somewhat similiar, I never questioned it further..lol. Well the mystery is over now, and I can start making plans on how to find a nice area to grow them. Again, thank you all.....Oh BTW...I never seen any blooms on mine nor have I ever smelled a scent coming from it,..but maybe in time with more maturity and better care..I'll post in the future how it's coming around...de

FYI I just did an internet search, to see more pics of this plant. I don't have any experience growing it, but the information that I found said that it is considered an invasive plant in South and Central Florida.
