how far from the lights ...??? how many lights... ???? and how much time have you given it... days??... weeks.. months???? has there been any new growth since ... is that growth tending toward the light??? if not.. its not close enough to the light ... i grown hosta indoors .... the lights are 2 inches from the leaf .. and must be checked every few days .... i would lower the lights incrementally to avoid burning the leafs .... i also use 4 standard 4 foot lights in two fixtures ... suspended with hardware chain to make them fully adjustable .... on hosta.. no effect with foo foo expensive bulbs .... its all about intensity .... think about it this way... you cant look a the sun ... but you can look at one bulb.. even 2 bulbs.. put 4 bulbs together... with reflector plates... and at least you are going to have to squint .... and if you move your eye.. AND PLEASE DONT... to 2 inches.. there will be intensity .... get what i mean .. and there should not be any diffuser between the plants and the light ... good luck ken

Here in the north, it is, of course, strictly an annual. But, from seed started indoors about 8 weeks ahead of transplant at your last frost date or just a bit before, you can still get impressive growth in good, rich, well-drained soil with a lot of watering and fertilization. Six feet of growth with considerable branching is not out of the question at all, assuming you have about a 5 month growing season outdoors. I personally enjoy citriodora, cinerea, and globbulus as the fastest growers. Some of the less common types can be fun, too, but frankly, I've never had much luck discerning the scents claimed for some of the kinds -- nicholii is claimed to smell like peppermint, for example, but frankly, it just smells like Eucalyptus. For best results starting seeds, use grow lights and heat mats. One good source for a couple of the species is Sandy Mountain Herb Farm in Alabama. They carry citriodora and globulus. nice change from bamboo! how are they growing now? when tou pisted 5ft in 1 yr seemed fairly fast. i plant with perlite alot also to keep soil loose for new roots.

Well done growing it from seed! The Eucs in CA are mostly the weedy E. globulous. A few E. globulous in the neighborhood have actually died from drought, hooray! There are some beauties like the OP's, or like E. rhodantha. I never thought to have a Eucalyptus in the garden since we are plagued with seedlings and torrents of litter from the neighbor's pestilential E. globulous weeds, but got E. 'Moon Lagoon' recently. It forms a lignotuber so can be cut to the ground when it gets too large and will grow back afresh. The juvenile foliage is the ornamental feature.
