Time to catch up so here are some that bloomed

AZTEC GOLD - dependable and lots of blooms

BROWN WITCH - opened perfectly and has several blooms open at the same time. Didn't get a clump shot ;-(.

CHERRY CUSTARD CHEESECAKE - new this year so need another year to see how it does here. Not a bad opening.

DELICATELY YOURS - opened okay but the color was more intense last year.

EGGPLANT ECSTASY - opened okay. Unusal deep purple.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD - not sure about this one yet. It is new in the garden so we shall see next year.

MOONLESS NIGHT - had some trouble getting a good shot of this due to splotchy openings.

SPACECOAST CRANBERRY BREEZE - another sp which is having issues opening.

TRAHYLTA - opening is okay but I think the blooms were larger last year. Still love it and definite keeper.

Great pics, Julia. I love the coloring on Sovereign Queen, don't you?

I've noticed tons of blooms that are much smaller this year. I'm guessing it's the lack of rain?

WOW, I love the amaranthus too. It really looks good along the road that way. I'm so jealous of your sunflowers. I don't know what I did wrong but mine are puny things and might bloom before November if I am lucky. My 4oclocks aren't doing anything either. I seem to be lousy at annuals. Thankfully my perennials are doing well. Great pictures again, Vera. I have to go out and give my sunflowers a pep talk. Bonny

I would not be surprised if my white daylily isn't Ice Carnival. My plant isn't 36" tall, but I was thinking that the one at work was that tall. Got to thinking about it though, DOH, that one was in a raised bed, a good 8-10" above where I stood. It has not made any more prolifs since that one year, but that year I collected 8 or 10, 7 survived. I should get some nice bloom from it next year. Sharon, Hush Little Baby is a real keeper, not one of the newer fancy ones, but beautiful color & every bloom has been perfect. This is the first year Surprisingly Pink has bloomed, so far the blooms have been that delicate pink. I know lots of people find daylilies in the colors of SMK to be muddy. I'm not sure if I just don't understand muddy or if it is a difference in the soil that affects the color. To me it looks a pink/purple with a deep purple ring around the eye. Same with Always Afternoon, lots of folks call it muddy but I don't see it. Of course, there is always that Strawberry Candy that usually isn't pink. I've seen it much more orangey than mine is though, in fact I had one that died before this one that was definitely orange. I think like Arlene says, sometimes they grow according to where they are. Kay, Thanks for the comments. I don't photo shop any of my pics. I will say that the blue eye you like looks the way it does more in an area with some partial shade, and my body provided it for this photo. As a matter of fact, I want to transplant this clump into an area of the garden that gets half a day of shade. It's near breathtaking to see this daylily in the early morning and on more overcast days. All of my seedling beds are exposed to full sun the entire day.....much like field grown daylilies. So many nice ones. BROWN WITCH looks especially great to me and I love MOONLESS NIGHT, that red black coloring gets me every time.

That Aztec Gold looks like it has some great branching. My favorite though is the one you aren't sure of--I think Light of the World is lovely.

Very nice close-ups!

I especially like Sovereign Queen. The bluish lavender is very pleasing to the eye. That one's going on my list for sure.

MOONLESS NIGHT is a favorite of mine and I'm thinking all the rain we had and cooler than normal temps have kept the scapes on it shorter than normal. The first 3 blooms were really splotchy. Now with the heat we've had, its starting to show better.
SOVEREIGN QUEEN will have a place here definitely.
AZTEC GOLD is an oldie -Dennett 1936- but the buds and scaping are definitely worth having. Unlike some plants that scaped short this year, this one is at 3ft tall. Same as last year. Very tall. I think I may move a clump over to Brown Witch as I think they will play off of each other nicely.
BTW, NO RAIN today. Yippee and we are in the 80's. Maybe the whinning thing does work.
