I put them under anything big leafed like hostas or back in the beds that need more mulch. Especially places where I have perennials that prefer moister soil. They can slime away there for me.

I put them in my compost bin along with grass clippings, leaves, vegetable waste, etc. and use it in the garden to enrich the soil after it breaks down. Our city sells them at discount prices.

I keep planning on sticking some black plastic pots around the yard to stick deadheads or weeds in so I'm not always walking to the bins with a handful. My yard isn't very big but I still pluck something every time I go out.

I just have one of those colorful plastic trugs and since it's lightweight, I carry it and just pluck the deadheads and toss them in there so I can put in garbage.

Mine just go on the ground to compost themselves. Sometimes you can even see them in my photos. :o)

Mine go along the edges of beds, under other leaves, just about anywhere they can't be seen too much. They just decompose on their own.

If you can possibly squeeze in a compost pile, that would be great. We call compost "black gold" around here. I have only 1/3 acre but have one squeezed in at the back corner of the lot. I am careful not to put certain weeds, rose clippings with thorns, etc. in it. I don't deadhead but livehead each evening.

I started putting them in the compost bin but it was too much, so now I just dump them on the leaf pile behind the garage (yard waste pile more likely). I will borrow the idea of just putting them on the ground!

I toss them over the fence into the veggie garden which is heavily mulched with straw. They decompose fast. For the daylilies that are growing no where near the veggie garden, I just toss them on the lawn and then since I use a grass catcher, they get sucked up once a week by the lawn mower. Sometimes they go on the compost pile. I agree with Floota. My yard is only 1/4 acre, but I have a small double compost pile at the back. A triple pile would be ideal: one to build, one to cook, and one to use. No turning necessary if you have 3 of them. There is never enough compost.

Ditto Maximus. Mine just go on the ground. We have two composters but daylily blooms disappear so quickly that I don't bother walking them back there.

Sometimes I deadhead and sometimes I live head. At any rate, I drop them beside the plant they came from to decompose. That works fine for me...Ellie

I just let them fall where I pluck and try to keep them together in a pile. Some end up in the grass for my DH to mow. Like Maximus, you probably see some in my pictures. I try to make sure that they don't land anywhere that I walk. Very slippery!

I just drop them next to the plant I'm deadheading. They disappear fast.

i put a pile on a bale of straw the other day and went to pick them up today and boy they were not only slimy but had little friends growing under them, won't do that again
i'll just keep picking them off and letting them drop right by the plant. holly

I have three 5 gallon buckets that I use to collect the live heads in and then dump them in the compost tumbler or down on an area we've designated for weeds and brush.

I also found too,after slipping a few times, not to put them on the pathways.
