Well, we are now down to the nitty gritty, but I am still getting quite a few beauties. These are all from today.

All three very pretty. AVA GARDNER though, is especially lovely. I just love that big watermark.

Those are all gorgeous. I'm a sucker for those large watermarks so AVA GARDNER is my #1 favorite of the group.

You can put your basil in the partly shaded bed. More chard? We got wintry mix and an inch of new snow today with a high of 32 degrees. The soil is still frozen. The only stuff I've planted so far is in my high tunnels. I've got 300 sq ft of chard, 500 sq ft of beets, 200 sq ft of kale, 200 sq ft of spinach, 1000 sq ft of salad turnips, and 200 sq ft each of dill, cilantro, carrots and onions. I'm waiting for spring to arrive so I can seed peas, more beets, more kale, celery and more onions outside.

Yes its definitely the Flame Vine. I have never tried rooting it before. The vine actually belonged to Ray, until I purchased the lot. It grows on the fence between the two properties. Will try to root it, and see what happens. It grows like a weed, and will smother everything in sight, if I am not diligent in keeping it under control. In one of the photos, you can see that it has attached itself to, and covered the side of, my RubberMaid shed! This is one of the best blooming seasons for it that I have seen. Bob

Thanks much guys! -LL, that is a blue(ish) "Glory of the Snow", Chionodoxa forbesii. I looked it up and it is hardy in zone 4, maybe 3. They would look fantastic in your fairy garden area!! How are your daffs doing? -Hey Spogarden! I think I am good on both of those, but thanks so much for asking! You may already know this, but the big Plant Expo at the Spokane Community College is on the 14th. Didn't know I had QUITE so many primroses until I started taking all of these pics! Got some of the double ones on a sale rack for a buck each a few years ago. Then when the stores put the no longer blooming plants on the sale rack I tend to snap up a few! Thanks for looking ;-) CMK

The nitty gritty is VERY good gritty! I've been eyeing up Bubble Yummin Mama & Ava Gardner for quite some time. Maybe soon. The pics I've seen of AG have been all over as far as color goes. I love the color in your pic. This is just the 2nd pic of Jazz After Five that I've seen & not real familiar with it.

lalalandwi - AVA GARDNER blooms all over the map, so it is not the pictures, but the flower itself. For me it is totally inconsistent. Sometimes almost cream, other times very contrasting in color like above. It *IS* new (this early spring), so it could be due to the newness...

JAZZ AFTER FIVE is a 2007 Selman with little distribution - so the price has stayed real high, probably why you don't see it around too much. This is its first year in my garden - and I hope the color improves some. We'll see! :o)

Chris - hmmmm... why is BYM being such a skunk for you??? Little evil plant!! She is very floriferous for me - nice scapes with giant flowers. The first year was not so good, but this year I got lots of buds and rebloom scapes. When you see the buds, and they are getting ready, they look like they are going to explode!!

Ava is nice but I know what a vamp she can be, so I have to go with BYM as my favorite.
