Dianne (what a week, sorry!) I think I know what will work on your hill: Eubhorbia Cyparissias, a little spurge I have dug up on 9W, it spreads all right! I find it very pretty and interesting all season. I have it in a big corner of a bed around some dwarf evergreens it can mostly have to itself, I'm just going to put some bulbs in with it this fall. It grows about 9' tall, very bushy and filling, too tall and aggressive for growing in among other perennials as I want to do with 'Jenny', though not hard to yank out if it gets out of hand. I got six pots of Jenny, I hope I'll get them in this weekend (it's supposed to be ghastly) in several places, to see where it does best. There are supposedly Ajuga cultivars now that tolerate sun, I might try some of that too. I really like Ajuga. In my yard, once established, it hogs all the light and really COVERS the ground. No idea how well it would play with others in a bed though. I also got some creeping Phlox on sale to try out. Vinca always grows kinda sparse for me, no match for those hideous wild Artemisias (Mugwort, I think), they're my bane here. Here's a pic of the Spurge: Here is a link that might be useful:

I had lots of creeping phlox when I lived in Wisconsin, when I wanted to root more of it I would just tear some of it off the main 'mass' making sure I got some roots--which is pretty easy cuz it has lots of tiny little roots. I'd just tuck it into a different spot and water it, sometimes I would put a tiny bit of mulch or some small rocks around it to hold it down and then water it. It almost always would take root somehow into the ground and spread along just fine with almost no special care. If you prefer to start it in pots, I'd do just about the same thing--just tear some off and set it on some dirt in a pot and water it. In pots you will likely have to water more often, but It grows almost as easily as a sedum. maryt

You might want to look at Steve's Blinds. I learned of the website long ago here on GW and ordered several TDBU cellular shades. Steve's carries several manufacturers' products but we purchased "Steve's own" brand. I believe they are made by a subsidiary of Hunter Douglas but this may be incorrect. We already have several similar blinds in the Hunter Douglas brand and have found the Steve's product to be comparable in quality. Would definitely order from the company again. I am linking the results of a quick search on the website using made-up dimensions and specifying "Steve's own" brand. Please note that there are many other options available on the website, and you will need to carefully enter the particulars for your windows instead of relying on the numbers I used. There is an up-charge for the TDBU feature as well. The website is kind of junky and confusing but you can call and get some customer service assistance. I trim mine once a year with a string trimmer by cutting down the height where needed and edging it to keep it from growing too wide or near other bushes. Hand picking of some of the runners that the trimmer does not get has kept it well controlled.
