we call it rock cress out here... you get rid of it by getting a spade under it, and pulling it out in huge mats...

funny- bees, and the flowers that attract them. are coveted things where I come from. bees make for a healthy landscape, and of all the stinging insects, they're the least likely to attack you.

Thank you for responding Chinacat. I appreciate your identifying this GC. It's roots are very thick and I didn't want to do a "kill all" chemical. So, I wondered what was the remedy?

The previous owner let it run over to the neighbor's property. To establish good relations and to keep things looking nice, I trimmed it back but was barraged by aggressive bees!

BTW, Bees I'm sure are okay for those who are not *allergic* to their stings. So you see, it isn't funny at all.

biz...anaphylactic responses run in my husband's family- some to bees, some to nuts, some to half a dozen things.

simple things like id'ing what sort of bees, and determining their habits will make pulling it up a lot easier- or there may be someone close who can help- in fact, through freecycle or craigslist, it's possible you may find someone willing to come out, and haul the whole mat of it away (and think they got lucky, on top of it)

otherwise, it really does involve digging up as much of the sea of it as practical- and roundup-ing anything that grows back from the left overs.

two layers of wet cardboard (or 12 of newsprint) covered with mulch SHOULD smother it eventually...but it will still try and crawl to the edge, and escape.

to bad you must get rid of it. I think it is very pretty. Would love to have it but live to far away to remove it for you.
