FANCY FACE

FANCY FACE and ORANGE ELECTRIC lilies.

INCENDIARY. Excuse the old goobbed flowers but I can not get in there to the back row so just have to shoot from were I can.

SUMMER GIFT (Mason) with ROSE FIESTA (CULVER) in back. SUMMER GIFT was a daylily that I was very unhappy with durning its first few flowers this year but oh what a few flowers later brings. Now I can't believe I was dissapointed in this increadible big grape colored vibrant flower. I just love it now.

MARILYN SWITIK (orange) and BELLA SERRA FFO. I never got a bloom from BELLA SERA last year so I was very happy with it this year.

WOW! You've got some beauties today, Rita. That second shot of FANCY FACE and ORANGE ELECTRIC lilies is such a stunning combo.

Wise planning! It took me years to figure out that what I saw in books might not be blooming together where I garden. Regroup your plants from the categories you showed (flowers, herbs, fruit) into bloom time categories: Early Spring, Mid Spring, Early Summer, High Summer and Fall. Pineapple Sage and Saliva Leucantha are Fall bloomers, despite a few blossoms in spring, so is Tea Camellia. Crape Myrtle starts in July, goes to frost if deadheaded. Many of the herbs are grown more for foliage than for blossoms, and can be counted on for green all spring and summer. Others, like parsley are biennial, making nice green clumps this year and going to seed next summer. The bloom of gladiolus may hinge on when they're planted, so you can make successive plantings to prolong the bloom time. Abyssinian glads bloom in fall, Byzantine glads in late spring. Different dianthus bloom at different times. Some can be coaxed into rebloom by deadheading. Tomatoes take a while to set fruit, you can count on Tomatoes after July 1. Lettuces and green peas are cool season crops. Be careful to double check with someone locally on dates for specific plants. A lily that's blooming for me in May be be blooming for Memo in July. Nell

I am so sorry I was so late answering. I slept about 16 hours yesterday. Only 3 months and 10 days and I get to sleep at night like normal people. Thank you for looking at the blooms. bigack...it's never too late...my beds are only three years old and I am 66. Avedon, that grouping was a total accident, but thank you. Casey, and they are both purples! To all of you who likesd it, Emporer's Butterfly has been blooming a lot, and I don't know why I haven't posted it. njmomma, give Desperado a little time and it will reward you! Rita, Elizabeth, Jean, Julia, Christine, Val and Vickie. I really like having the paths show in the picture. Take a right and you will go to the shed and the rose garden. Tun in the neext left and you will reach a sitting area under the big oak tree. Go left (in the photo) and you will eventually pass the green house, then the big iris beds, then you can go straight to the biggest daylily beds. Straight ahead (in the photo) takes you to the butterfly garden, smaller clumps of daylilies and many perennials and annuals along with the hummingbird feeders. Laurel: I think it is MARY TODD as I have had it for many, many years. I had it at the old house, moved it here. Then the clump got so big I dug it up, divided it and moved it over into another area where I had made a whole row of now 7 cumps. They grew so well that last year I moved the 7 clumps over to the very end of my veggie garden were I have a row of Serviceberry shrubs and put the row of daylilies in front of the shrubs. Dwarf Burford or Hellers japanese Holly Help

Dwarf Burford has really wicked thorns and may not be freeze free in your area. Heller's Holly comes in several sizes from 2 feet to 6 feet depending on cultivar. I would recommend a native like yaupon holly. It comes in dwarf, tree or weeping varieties. It will tolerate heat, humidity, some shade and acid soils. Plus it looks more natural in the woodland setting you are building. Did I mention the weeping variety has lots of berries in the fall and winter. Mulch with some oak leaves and it will look totally natural.

Beautiful. You're having a terrific bloom season. We're still getting mostly rainy weather here in NS. When it every gets sunny, things will begin to pop here. Until they do I have these wonderful shots to enjoy....cheers...just lovely, Rita.

Theres so much that has not even opened one flower yet :-))

But there flowers everywhere. I love it. I barely know were to look when I go outside in the morning each day.

Oh my goodness.....I love your clump shots so much!! It looks like Wild Cherry Roundup is doing great for you this year. Isn't that one you were very unhappy with last year? If so, it must have heard you and straightened out. They are all just beautiful! Jan G.

WILD CHERRY ROUNDUP has a low budcount and low scape density in my garden. The first few flowers stick and only partially open each year but then it straightens out and opens fine. Still, it sent up a rebloom scape for me has year and comes thru the winter easily. If I was complaining about poor doers in the garden, there are many I would have complained about alot more than this one though.

Love Fancy Face. It looks like a great bloomer. Sorry to hear that Wild Cherry Roundup has a low budcount because it looks like it has perfect flower form.

Hard to beat that combo of Fancy Face and those Orange Electric lilies. Looks like you've got an ocean of bloom going on there in your garden, and they all look very beautiful.

Rita, looks like buying clump strenght has really paid off in beauty! Fancy Face is awesome. Now I am thinking I need to buy more fans of what I have to increase clump bloom!

Allright! I can't wait to see what you'll post that I just "have to have"! I love both Pretty gaudy and Prelude to Panoply. It looks as if Wild Cherry Round Up is doing great for you this year. Keep em coming!

Oh yes.
My Orange Electric lilies turned out to be scrawny pale pink oriental lilies, so I'll just have to enjoy yours instead. Thanks for posting the photos. It was your photo of Cuban Skies last year that gave me the daylily lusts.

You know, I didn't even notice the brown tips until you mentioned it. When I view pics of everyone's blooms, I automatically ignore the foliage anyway. So many of us have some browned foliage now & then, so I think nothing of it.

I guess I am very fussy, but I am the same way about my roses. Some insect damage and chewed leaves I don't even notice but fungus like blackspot in the roses and fertilizer burn on my daylilies really bothers me. I almost didn't even take the picture because of the browned leaves but just could not ignore all those blooms. Then I debated with myself again before posting as those brown leaves really bother me. But in the end, the flowers really looked great and PRETTY GAUDY is a very favorite of mine.
