Good source for interesting plants for container gardening

I'm new to the Roswell, GA area - and have someone in Marietta, GA that would like me to do a large # of container plantings for her. I was wondering where you suggest I look for good selection of exciting plants for containers @ good prices. I can get wholesale prices as a landscape designer...so nurseries that offer wholesale prices would be preferred - though if there is a favorite retail hot spot for interesting/splashy plants I'd be happy to hear about them.

Suggestions also needed for:

-reasonably $'d containers themselves- looking for large planters

- photos, links, books on container gardening that you've found inspirational

I used to live in Marietta, and bought my plants for containers mainly at a nursery called Saul's. They had a great selection of annuals and tropicals. It's a wholesale nursery and grower. We moved 5 years ago, so I don't remember the directions, but it was off 400. I hope that helps.

Wow...so much good info still coming in. Thanks :) I am going to add some buzzing friends to the mix. I have purchased, and will be making more, Mason Bee houses. Plan to put them around the deck and see if they can help with pollination a little (hopefully a lot). I won't be discouraged if things don't work out. I have been planting tomatoes in two gallon clay pots, sitting in the driveway, for three years now and they do fine. If my deck project fails, I'll go back to that. The deck is treated, and hopefully I'll do it again before I set up the deck garden this spring. I have a hot tub sunken into the deck in one corner, but I don't use it anymore. I plan to build a box over the cover and set planters on top of that. I'll do some before and after pictures and post them when I get a chance. Brody

I was going to say that head planter would look great with lemon coral sedum. It does well in full sun or dappled shade and doesn't need much water or hens 'n chicks or that really brightly-colored creeping jenny (it does well anywhere). I agree with above about coleus too. There are so many color variations you really can't go wrong. What about some of those huge New Guinea impatiens or sunpatients (the ones that can take some sun). Mona lavendar is cute and does well in morning sun. If you haven't used Ptilotus Joey yet, you really must! It's so cool looking. It does like full sun but may do okay in part sun.

One Sauls location is south on Union Hill Road off McFarland about 1 mile west of 400. Another is located at East Nancy Creek Rd. off Peachtree Dunwoody Road south of Northside Hospital. They sell to Trades only at Nancy Creek Location. Cheap large pots are available at Old Time Pottery on Highway 5 (Canton Highway). Just north of Piedmont Road in Marietta. Sauls specializes in perennials but, have some intersting exotic and succulent plants at the Nancy Creek location. Bobby Saul has some nice pots there for ideas and they sell that easy carve stone for planters also.
