Thursday Blooms in Nova Scotia

Today was a good day for blooms and I tried a couple of crosses as well. I visited a friend's garden and she gave me a bloom of Roger Herr and Cynthia Louise Valente to use the pollen. Roger Herr pollen went on Victorian Lace and Cynthia Louise Valente Pollen went on No More Tears. And now for the pictures.

Victorian Lace - you can see why this is one of my favorites in the garden and for hybridizing.

No More Tears

Ah Youth - look at that scape, and it is a bud builder too.

Margaret Estell - the colour is hard to capture on this one. It is more purple and better looking.

Beautiful Edward! Victorian Lace is a beauty. I can't think why I haven't gotten it yet.

They all look good to me. I bet that was exciting to get those blooms and then decide which crosses to make with them.

It was much easier than you might think. Victorian Lace and No More Tears were the only two tets I would use that were open today. Also, I counted the buds on Ah Youth and there are 30 so far. If I hybridized with dips it would be an excellent one to use. Finally, here is a picture of the two blooms. The one in the foreground is Cynthia Louise Valente.

Then that narrows down your choices. I have Rodger Herr just planted last year. This year the branching and budcount already are fantastic.

Terrific pic of VL. I've tried to get a good photo of Margaret Estell in my garden and have given up -- my camera just doesn't see the same color I do.

I need to seriously think about getting Victorian Lace too, I don't think I've seen a bad picture of it yet, but yours is one of the best. Everyone who has it seems to love it. I think I just tend to prefer the more vibrant colors, at least this year I do. Who knows what I will like next year.

I just got Ah Youth this year because I'd heard such good things about it. I'm sure glad I did. Victorian Lace and No More Tears look great.

Gorgeous blooms. I just love VICTORIAN LACE..I decided to dabble alittle bit, too and put VICTORIAN LACE pollen on HEARTS OF FIRE..Now the hard part will be waiting all them months to see what I get out of it,presumming the seed will germinate and grow into nice plants...

Beautiful pictures. Victorian Lace is new to my garden this year and it performed wonderfully with a long bloom period. It set a few pods too! Margaret Estell looks like it is made of satin. Beautiful.

NO MORE TEARS sure is a pretty thing. I like the form with all those ruffles!
