i've tried this one, too, herb. i like it but am not able to keep it for more than a couple of seasons. must not like the summer heat here because it really began to decline as the temperatures steadily hit the 90's.

MoabMoni, Can't help you out with with any A. gigantea (just got some myself this spring). As far as bamboo that would survive in Moab, you might check into Phyllostachys viridis. Reports that I have heard (from hot and dry central Texas) say that it is very drought tolerant. And because it is a Phyllostachys, it should handle the cold temps in the winter.
