Comments (12)I ve had the yellow michela, the michela Alba and the ylang ylang. The yellow michela and the ylang ylang grow well from fresh seeds. If you want to go that route, top tropicals or Tradewinds tropical seeds should have seeds. Gardinos has all 3 as plants, not sure if they can ship overseas. These are all fast growing big trees ;) As as far as fragrance, I had the 3 in a front yard (well the yellow was technically in my neighbors yard). They all seemed to go thru bloom cycles and actually didn't seem to bloom at the same time. The yellow really did seem to smell like joy perfume, the Alba smelled just like juicy fruit gum, and the ylang ylang smelled very similiar to bath & body works ylang ylang products. I liked them all about equally. For comparison, some of my favorite scents are jasmine maid of Orleans and Brunsfelsia gigantica....See MoreMichelia alba & champaca in UK?

Comments (4)It does not go dormant so putting it in a dark area for an extended period of time may kill it. Michelia Champaca cannot survive below freezing like the Michelia Figo (banana shrub) can. So if your garage is not heated it might freeze. I would bring it inside and keep it away from direct heat sources that might dry it out and give it a sunny window. Try not to under or over water it ...checking to make sure the soil is dry an inch down before watering again. If you can give it a mist with a hand sprayer daily it will be helpful in keeping the humidity up. Some people put a saucer under the plant and put some pebbles in the saucer thus raising the plant up a little and putting a little water in the bottom of the saucer. This helps with humidity but prevents the plant from sitting in the water which can lead to root rot. Hope this helps a little :) ~SJN...See MoreMAGNOLIACEAE - Michelia alba (champaca)
Comments (0)I have a champaca plant about 12 feet tall. It looks healthy but it never had flowers. How can I make it bloom? It is located outdoors with full sun most of the day but gets afternoon shade. This is located in Zone 9. If I need to feed it, what kind of fertilizer should i use? I appreciate any help!...See Morewakeupsandy28
