I have added to many people's threads, and it seems everyone disappears or does not respond.

Is everyone ok? Has this forum gone to pots? Where is all the fun and involvement there use to be?

Anyway, take care. This use to be a fun place to come too.

Mike, What are you compliaining about? are you bored or sort of? This forum is more active then any other forums I have lurked. Some are having old thread for months without adding new threads. At this time of the year, we are busy preparing to winterize all our plants.

And we've been adding photos to the what's blooming in October thread.
Surely you've got some citrus or other greenhouse plants blooming that you could share pics with us. :)

Hi Lindie, I'm Tiffany. I visit gardenweb most days, but not always this particular forum. Just depends on my mood and time available. I'm in AL, just north of FL, moved here in 07 from OH and absolutely love it. Nobody is in a hurry, and there's something blooming all year. We often spend Saturdays or Sundays at the beach, or swimming in a nearby cold spring or spring-fed lake. We like camping, inviting tons of people over for a BBQ, exploring dirt roads to see what we can see, fishing, drive-in movies, canoeing, sitting around the fire - ours or somebody else's, kites... I've been to most states east of the Mississippi, Canada, Europe, but am also a homebody most of the time. I also like gardening (obviously,) cooking, cross-stitch and the gridded/geometric art associated with it, occasionally rearranging my seashell collection, reading about any type of fiction and non-fiction from areas of interest, driving my car on a beautiful day when time doesn't matter, watching the sun set, scrabble, and dancing if nobody is looking. I used to like skiing but there is no snow here, and hiking but am too afraid of encountering a poisonous snake to do that here. My daughter went to college this year, about an hour away, and I miss her but am glad she's doing well and having fun. I've met a very nice man here and am totally in love with him and his dog, and they moved in with my son and I earlier this year. He's smart, funny, fixes things, and does cool stuff like making a fire pit, bat house, tilling up a veggie patch, and mowing with the bag so the grass and leaves can go in the compost and on the beds. The fenced-in yard, central air, much bigger kitchen, and much more light from windows are why we decided on my house instead of his. There are a ton of lizards, skinks, squirrels, birds, and geckos that live here, an occasional armadillo, and various neighborhood cats and dogs that come to the yard to visit our dog. We've had a few hummingbirds and a ton of butterflies this year, they are always visiting the zinnias, lantana, basil, and plumbago. About a year before I met him, my oven quit working right - it would come on but not turn off when it reached the desired temp, it just kept getting hotter and hotter. Since I hardly ever used it, and 3 of the stove burners still worked, I didn't try to have it fixed or replaced. I was already much more of a toaster oven user, especially in the summer, when the thought of turning on anything that would create so much more heat is just unbearable! When he moved in here, his oven was one of the benefits (major or minor, depending on time of day and what I cooked for dinner - LOL!) It's just a basic one with coiled electric burners and it has a self-cleaning feature but hopefully that would never be needed. There's no dishwasher here, besides me, so it's rare that I would cook any meal without foil. And I've always lined my ovens with foil, and always put a sheet of it or a baking...

One big wholesale nursery I worked for owned the aging mainframe and was therefore making us at the converted-to-partly-retail branch store use a slow invoicing system that printed full page wholesale-style receipts for every customer, retail or wholesale. The home office insisted we not let anyone out the door without one of these, yet often the printer did not work. This combination enabled me to live the seafood restaurant scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, as I had a customer that wanted a quick accomodation for a small purchase while the company president happened to be visiting. As I am standing there trying to enforce the clumsy procedure and policies the home office had always insisted upon the president walks up and asks why I'm not giving the customer what he wants - exactly like in the movie. They of course wrote that scene with the idea that it was a common or at least representative situation.

<other than the usual condiments, milk, eggs, salad dressings> I'm not sure what the "usual condiments" are - I might not have some of those, but I certainly never have milk or salad dressings in my fridge. Here's what I almost always have: Bean dip (which is a standard Mexican condiment) celery lettuce mushrooms chilies my own smoked chocolate Habanero sauce (not really a usual condiment) my own diet tonic water syrup, which I make with 13 botanicals and Splenda instead of sugar limes & defrosted limeade concentrate tahini (I store the jar upside down) feta and other cheeses, especially Brie sauerkraut (that I make myself) dill pickles (that I make myself) mustard (that I make myself, and so it is a bit unusual rather than usual) Champagne (in case a certain guest visits) red wine and white wine maple syrup (for my brother - I rarely eat it) kimchee (I usually make this, but sometimes I just buy it) Ponzu sauce Nutella

Lol....I posted this on the wrong forum!

There are a couple of other forums that have just crapped out and it's a shame. This one on the though continues to amaze me, although I do wonder what's up with Butterfly4u lately. I hope she is well.

People come and go..how many times have you seen new threads..threads that are resplied to..the OP never returns..lol.

Speaking of people disappearing..what happened to Mersipoo? She used to be a regular here..Remember how she talked about Gardenias? lol. Too funny.

Olympia, thanks for your kind words and for understanding. I really appreciate that and for all the stuff you do here. You are one of the few members that shows much respect, appreciation, makes it a fun place to come, and is so involved with making other happy! It's a blessing to have you here along with,

Thank you Robert for caring. It can be tough at times caring for two parents at once. It is worth the sacrafice at time though since I am afraid I may loose one soon someday.
I have to say that these forums, my plants, my girl, friends,amd my familiy have been wonderful.

Toni! Now you know how much you have been there for me and I for you. I know you too have had some heavy weights to bare and I can only hope we can make it lighter for you.

You are right, people come and go, and then there is teh few of us that stick around for years. I have even begun to like many here. too bad we can't put a face to many here or have a 'Fragrant Plant' convention some day.

I'm sorry about your parents mike, hope everything turns out.. I started working and I don't have time to post often but I read your posts once or twice a week at night and it helps me relax and dream of new plants!!
Ps. I got my order from holland that we placed with the guys from the greek forum and now I have these new additions:
ceratostigma plumbaginoides and campanula poscharskyana which are not fragrant but great fillers for my planters and they remind me of when I used to grow them when I lived in Italy..Then the fragrants!!
