My winter sowing sprouts are coming up!

So far the broccoli & dwarf gaillardia are up and growing! I expect much more to be up by early next week, what with the warmer days we are going to have.

WOO HOO! veggies, here I come! I can't wait for more home grown veggies and herbs.

I second your yippee! Lettuce, spinach, larkspur galore. Peas went in yesterday, AND more rain to come!

Oh,You have reason to be dancing away, to have a expensive daylily to make it and come back. I have Asiatic Lillies thats 2 foot high and loaded with buds already..And I have roses blooming that dont have black spot on them yet. Usually they have Black spot on them before I see one bloom and I do spray them for it, too.This first flush looks better then they ever have and have bigger blooms, too. Jean

Well DH and I picked the table up today and got it home...as soon as we got it home DH started with how really great this table is and how HE really LIKES it and how he THINKS it would be a great table to use in the DINING ROOM! Well I told DH it isn't happening LOL.... I really think he wanted me to get the table for him LOL! He seemed kinda mad about it........but like my son to him you said for her get it for the sewing room..........and after all Mom did all the leg work and negotiating LOL.. But what is really going to blow his mind is when I tell hime I am taking the white wood cabinet I bought out of the kitchen LOL...hehehehe Red

Haha....ok I got behind having to run to the big country walmart and Kmart First the Method Tabs, I like the grapefruit scent its fresh...I had a full load but nothing really burnt or crusty, but a full load of dirty dishes, glasses, flatwear, corning ware ect....I did add STPP....and I did turn the knob back around so I have 30 minutes of wash time, which is plenty considering all the water my machine uses....CLEAN everything was clean, not a spot on anything, a plastic container that housed homemade ranch dressing even lost its odor and generally that's an impossiable odor to remove from plastic. The D/W looked clean and smelled fresh. I like these cute guys and will continue using them in between all of the other great detergents I'm finding really does work for me. Alex the Smartys you sent me won't go to waste, I'll use them Thank You My white comforter is ultra white, fluffy, and smells so clean all I used was the STPP and Tide Vivid liquid from Alex, no FS. Remember I commented on the suds, I overdosed but the rinse water was clear and had no slip to it..I'm very pleased with this Tide Vivid Thank You Alex. Now my white duvet cover is washing in Persil Universal Powder, by itself no stpp or other additives, water temp 142F..I opened the lid a few minutes ago and OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scent, the hot steamy vapors hit me full face and i just leaned over and did a steam facial, it was lovely ( you FL users dont get to do the steam facials lol) the scent is very close to Persil Perls but not quite as strong...so--- so far so good. LOL. These are wonderful products and you can bet I will hoard my Tide with Bleach Alternative and Persil Universal Powder for special occassions..like when I'm just needing something a little extra special to play with. So glad to hear of your happy increase of sunshine, Laura! The moral of the story is choose your trees for the size of the landscape area carefully! I must admit i was an ignorant offender of a sort not too long ago. I bought a house with 20 redwoods and then planted 10 more. 20 years later it was a dense forest and some neighbors didn't mind, others didn't care (thankfully). i had no sun on the pool as they were between 100-125 ft. tall. However, while they were racing towards the sky, the roots were strangling my irrigation pipes, cracking my pool pipes, and filling my sewer line. They found my wallet really badly. I got rid of all of them. Freaked out the neighborhood. One neighbor now has a sunset view (happy), another neighbor can enjoy his lawn (happy), and the one down the hill planted 5 redwoods (idiot). And - - - i was able to plant 40 citrus and 10+ other fruit trees (happy). So if you know an ignorant offender out there, be nice, but don't necessarily wait for God to intervene (as in your case Laura). Be straightforward - they may be nudged into decency. : - ) -George

WOOOOOHOOOOOO! I'm doing a tiny wiggle (not a full blown dance yet) as I've seen the first sprouts of my lettuce coming up. I LOVE THE FIRST SIGNS OF FRESH FOOD!

Great goin' GGG. I have zinnia, peppers and tomatoes going strong. Oh, and some fig cuttings rooting nicely!

Rose, I'm so glad your spirea survived the drought!! Mine did just fine and is simply LOADED with gorgeous white flowers right now. It is just lovely, best it has ever been.

Some things love a good drought! The daffadils have looked nicer than I have ever seen them before!

I'm a horrible dancer but I can snap my fingers with the best of em'. My first daylily sprouts from last year's seed crop are up today (they're so cute!). Waiting 3 weeks for them to sprout was painful....waiting 3 years for them to bloom will be downright torture!

Good job everyone! Even if there's a drought it's still gonna' be a green year....I can feel it.

is it too late to plant a salad lettuce mix? I wish I was watching mine sprout but I haven't planted it yet. I just got the bed ready.

Now is a great time to start salad mix!
Today I sowed some flowers, lots of tomatoes (too many tomatoes, you traders!!), peppers. Lots of nice things. Many drought tolerant annuals.
Lovely rain today, makes ya feel the gardening spirit...

I wish there were some girls my age who get so excited about growing things as I.
I got rasishes and lettuce and chamomile winter seeeds coming up like crazy too!

Lol, maybe they're out there Herboil. I'm 26, not too much older than you and I've been excited about growing plants ever since I was a tot and all through highschool. Not the typical mall shopping boy-crazy teenage girl but that suited me just fine. My high school boyfriend never quite understood why I enjoyed playing in the dirt so much.

Heck, now my husband still doesn't quite understand what I get out of it but at least he came with 3 acres of land and he lets me do pretty much whatever I want on it so I can overlook his flaws!

Keep lookin' and I bet you'll find one. There may be a plant-crazy gardening girl hiding inside someone you meet but you just have to coax it out. Take any potential girlfriend to Calloway on a date, maybe that will tell you something!!

I am too excited, everything is looking so good! It is so lovely to see the hydrangea buds swelling! I LOVE my tiny sedum sprouts and my five leaf akebia has a few flowers ready to pop open!

My biggest surprise this morning was that I have iris flower buds shooting up!!!! I transplanted them last year so they never bloomed and the best news is that they are PURPLE, my favorite!!!!
