I'm doing a happy dance!

Last fall my dog dug up one of my new daylilies - Westbourne Good Old Days. Hard to find, and not cheap. >:-( When I discovered it, it looked dead and dried up. The only thing left was the roots. I think a rabbit must have eaten the foliage, which is probably what attracted my dog to it to begin with. However, I put it back where it had been planted, covered it with soil, and watered it.

This spring I've checked numerous times, and no sign of WGOD. All my other daylilies have been up and growing for a few weeks now. Today I did a walkabout and was shocked to see daylily leaves poking out of the soil in the WGOD spot! Unbelievable!

DAYLILIES ROCK!!!

And, several oriental lilies that never came up last year have come up this year. I don't know what's going on, but I think it's going to be a good gardening year!

Oh,You have reason to be dancing away, to have a expensive daylily to make it and come back. I have Asiatic Lillies thats 2 foot high and loaded with buds already..And I have roses blooming that dont have black spot on them yet. Usually they have Black spot on them before I see one bloom and I do spray them for it, too.This first flush looks better then they ever have and have bigger blooms, too.

Oh, congrats! I love it when the roses show up too! I only have one small order of mini/minifloras coming this year. And not until April because normally that's when I can plant. Of course if I'd asked for them in March we'd probably have been buried in snow!!!

I Know... Mum has a Massive Caerulea 'Constance Elliot'(It came from John Vanderplanks Collection) at her house, so when the time comes I'll be using that Pollen... I hope.... *Grin*

The portrait lends such character and warmth to your living room. I'm so happy for you! Auntjen - I know, unbelievable prices! I just received "Lady Cardinal" and "Fall Lake" this afternoon and they are even prettier in person. Mary also included an extra, a print of a seaside painting, suitable for framing. I have noticed that this year everything is coming back earlier and has had good bloom. The azaleas in Louisiana this year were beautiful, they all bloomed so good, along with all the other spring blooming shrubs and trees here. And my daylily scapes appeared earlier this year too. I think it is going to be a good year too. Congrats on you daylily coming back. sharon

That is wonderful! So nice to see something coming back that was thought lost. I've had oriental lilies do that, sometimes something causes a lot of rot or they get chewed, but enough remains of the bulb so they can come back the next year.
