Best of the lot was this 4 year old seedling that youve already seen, it took 2-3 blooms to settle in this year though, nice choral, heavy substane and even some sculpting thrown in to boot..

I think ive got to back down on my egg spray lol, its keeping the deer away but its cuasing some sepal bleaching.. I know this because my back beds, that Ive only sprayed 2-3 times, isnt nearly as bad ad my front beds, which are bigger and what the deer was coming to, Ive been a little neurotic about spraying it every 2-3 days.. and the result was this bleaching effect. Im going to back away and do it less often..

This almost broke my 2 year rule, as its a runt of a scape, and everything has been horred off from it.. this was the best shot Ive seen so far..

A little damaged, but you can see, this one is in my back beds and there is no sepal bleaching.. and the deer still havent eaten it, so will do a weekly spray instead of every 2-3 days from now on.. I was probable overdoing it anyways!

Mercy.....that first glowing coral is my absolute favorite!! I love corals that glow, and that one fits the bill perfectly for me!!! I would consider that one a definite keeper, but that's my opinion only on the flower. I hope the plant habit is great to go with that pretty face!! Jan G.

Definitely start hardening things off now, unless they really like warm weather (like the tomatoes or peppers). Anything that's a 'cool annual' or vegetable will be fine outside now, as long as they're hardened off to both sun and temperatures. moonflowers like warmth, but if they're suffering from lack of light then a little outdoor light on a warm day might do them good. I bring things back inside at night when I'm first hardening things off, and then if I'm leaving things out all night I watch the temperatures very carefully in March and April. There are some websites that will tell you the best temperature ranges for hardened-off plants, so if, for instance, it says that Osteospermum is hardy down to 30F, then you can leave the osteos out all night if they've been fully hardened off. Keep in mind that while something may be hardy at a cold temperature, it's ideal growing temperature may be 60F, so if they're outside in 45F weather they won't die, but they won't get bigger.

Good evening! It's 86 F. and the mosquitoes had a nice dinner on me - literally! I have bites on my face and on my hands and knees. All the fun spots that I can't resist scratching in my sleep. Donna, I'm so sorry for all you're going through. Be strong and post more often for lots of (((hugs))). Jan, I have severe osteoporosis and have been on Fosamax for 6 years with good results. I'll never be perfect, but my bones are stronger than they were at 55. I also take two calcium tabs every night before bed. Raeanne, I really hope my son loves this birthday gift. In the last few years, I've taken the safe way out and just gone with a GC. And, I didn't make it to Dallas after Christmas this past year, so my sister and decided to just wait until this weekend to exchange gifts. I don't usually wait quite this long! Still lots of packing to do. I keep thinking of things like sheets and spring rods to take to my Dson for when they move into their new home in late August. That's what I used until we got our window coverings, and it was helpful. I also need to take Alexis's (9 yr. old DGD) books to her that she forgot last visit. I haven't seen her in a month, and I really am excited to see her tomorrow night when she flies in from AL and visiting my xh and his wife. Guess I'd better get back to it because experience has taught me that nobody else is going to do my packing for me! Have a great rest of the week!

I agree, the first one is gorgeous but they are all really pretty. I too have a deer problem. So do you just mix up eggs and mix with water and spray or do you let them sit a while or just exactly what do you do?? I use the liquid fence plus hubby has put up some deer fencing that seems to be helping quite a bit but it keeps falling or someone (brother n law) keeps pulling it down so the deer will get in and eat my stuff and not his. ha ha! I take 4 eggs, in blender with 2 quarts of water, make sure its very throughly stired.. add in a few tablespoons of garlic and hot pepper sauce.. the hotter the better..

add to sprayer, fill in to top with water.. and spray..

This is about 50% -75% effective, if a deer can find food elsewhere it will.. my deer are not hungry, there is plenty to forage on.. they just like my buffet of deserts more..

I too have added barriers where I can, I also ordered a motion sensor device to add to both sides of my yard, that will kick in and play a radio, and flash lights,

you can also put down chicken wire in the grass, allow the grass to grow into it, the deer dont like to step on it, but that doesnt work for me, as my borders are in the woods not grass...

I figure my gardens will be fairly well protected eventually lol.. but the egg wash really does work, its just a pain to keep spraying after each rain.. trust me they know when it rains, becuase they will just come in the middle of the night WHILE ITs raining to eat my stuff!

I just don't know how you all deal with those deer. It would drive me straight to the nut house, I would get so frustrated. That very first seedling is so very pretty. Love the glowing color on it.
