OT Join the HGTV protest Campaign
Comments (5)WOOOW WOOOW!loving this post, had come to the conclusion after a year of being here USA, that the great expance of the US meant that consumer pressure didn't exsist, well done you and I will be joining the protest. my idea would be to choose dates for people to e-mail, this lets them know that it is organised, and people feel strongly on this subject, don't choose one date as this will overload the servers and in these days could be concidered terrorism! so much for free speach!. Landscape programs are cheap because they will get free stuff which they can advertise, and produces miraculous results quickly, also start cancelling you subscripions to the network that lets you watch this channel, I don't know it, so it maybe on a basic channel, but if not go to a basic subscription and tell your provider why! even if you loose some channels you like! you can always reinstate them in a few weeks, just get the point across, my feeling is that I pay for a package that is v expensive and all I watch is PBS and BBCA and I haven't watched them for 2 weeks, TV is rubbish here! never thought I'd say this, we are forced to pay $200 dollars a year by law! in the UK to watch TV (you can get sent to prison if you don't pay and people do!) which pays for BBC, but by heck it means that all the other channels have to keep up and we have some good programming! and the BBC by Law has to do educational stuff! and no ads, 4 channels and 7 radio stations, realised what good value it was now I am here, rant over good luck...See MoreGuess what is on HGTV Yep you guessed it!
Comments (20)Yes David & Jqpublic, They are reruns but when you are a gardening addicted person who cares if they are. Each time you watch them you may get some info or ideas you might of missed previous. Six, ten, 20 years ago my ideas and style have changed and sometimes there is inspiration in others styles. So for us who can't get enough...get your coffee ready or Tivo. But you have to admit is the only true garden show showing on HGTV these days....See MoreGenevieve's Renovation & What is wrong w/ HGTV?
Comments (58)I don't think there are all that many people watching the real estate shows. But they are so cheap and easy, that you only need a fraction of the viewers to make it worthwhile financially for the network. And if you've got people watching them because there's nothing else on, it brings up the numbers. Sarah's old shows might be 10 times as popular. But if HH costs 10% to produce, even if you only get 20% as many viewers (10% actually liking it, and 10% indifferent) , you're actually making twice as much money. Plus, they can probably produce 5 HH shows in a week. I have heard that there are hundreds of episodes already filmed, just waiting to be aired. The only hard part of creating one of those episodes is finding people who want to pose as "buyers". And everyone and their dog wants a few minutes of TV time. What we need is a new channel to come along, producing new original shows, stealing the viewers who watch HH only because there's nothing else on....See MoreTis the Season to Say What You Mean...Or Just Be Mean...Or...
Comments (34)Well, today is going much better. (Of course I am probably jinxing myself.) I went to the library and spoke to a few acquaintances who all remembered me and none of whom told me I had ratty hair or pimples. The Kindle Fire session went more smoothly, thanks to Frances I think I have figured out a thing or two or three. I think the problem is just plain old slowness. What I took for nonresponse is just plain slowness. I need to wait...wait...wait...wait a little more...voila! Being used to lightning fast responses on my work and home computers, I have become spoiled. It's not that bad, but it is definitely slow. And my two Kindles work differently - my old Kindle can receive books just about anywhere but my new Kindle Fire can only receive books if it has a wireless connection. Except for library books, which are a whole different animal. Yes, it is a learning experience. Anyway, I am tired of Christmas, not the spiritual beautiful part, but the I-don't-have-time-to-be-nice-to-you-because-I-have-better-things-to-do part. I will be glad when the holidays are over and my friends don't hang up on me because they are busy and stressed. I don't have the busy stressed part, because I pretty deliberately eliminated it quite some time ago. For instance, we don't exchange gifts in my family as a general rule. We all agreed quite some time ago that we all have too much stuff. But today is beautiful. It is snowing lightly and looks gorgeous. I'm so happy to have some snow that does not come part and parcel with a huge and ferocious storm. This is lightly falling, moderate temp, no wind, only half-an-inch expected snow. And yes, this is all tongue-in-cheek, I'm hope I have generated a bit of laughter!...See Moretodancewithwolves
