Night Blooming Jasmine--sun? Moonvine--trellis?
Comments (4)I have grown moonvine on a trellis or up my taller plants like castor beans or brugmansia etc. I had several in a bed this past summer and some just sprawled on the ground and then up the plants, back down to root on the ground and back up again. They will usually try to climb anything they can and will not stay down as a strict ground cover. My NBJ does best in full sun here....See MoreNight-Blooming Jasmine: Full Sun, Shade, or Part Sun/Part Shade?
Comments (4)Mine (at my old house) was in full sun all day and thrived. I took cuttings to bring here and have put them in mostly sun and close to the garage to keep them from freezing. It worked but then a week ago or so, caterpillars got to them OVERNIGHT! but their on their way back after being sprayed....See Moreplease help me with my night blooming jasmine, it is unhappy
Comments (1)Could be mites or some other bug. Can you move it into the sun? Cestrum loves hot sun and lots of water. I would cut all the ugly off, give it plenty of water and let it re-grow. Cestrum resprouts from cutbacks very easily. Hopefully the new growth will be more attractive. Misting with the hose several times a day speeds up the resprouting....See MoreNight Blooming Jasmine Soil Requirements
Comments (1)Cestrums (night blooming jasmines) are native to Mexico and the West Indies, so sandy is right on -- too rich a soil in a container and you'll get fast but week, leggy growth. 1/3 to 1/4 sharp sand (builder's sand, not beach sand) or perlite -- you don't need both -- in a good potting mix (not topsoil) should do fine. Cestrums like regular fertilization, but too much and you get that rank growth. If all goes well, be prepared to repot them before too long, they're fast growers. Enjoy the fragrance!
