Watering and overwintering 1 gallon fig

I have a young VdB in a 1 gallon pot. I recently dug it up and brought it inside to overwinter in my garage. The fig was planted in-ground (in its original pot) until I cut the roots and dug it up a few days ago. Its drooping badly and clearly needs watering. I'm concerned about watering though because I've read that its not a good idea to water figs late in the year. How much water should I provide over the winter for this little guy? Also, is it okay to repot now and water well? It still has leaves and small fruit, but I plan to remove the fruit before potting up. Current temps range from 30 at night to 70 during the day and won't get much lower than 30F all winter. Increasing pot size to 5 gallons. Thanks
