Tom you may have been right?!

My neighbor just went to a gardening workshop at the extension office and they handed out the vegetable gardening guide. Then they told the audience to follow the South Florida planting schedule if they lived in Pinellas County. That is so confusing?! I know it gets really cold here sometimes and we even get a frost or two...well not this year but it was close at times. The maps make us look like central florida. I suppose I'll follow something in between the two and hope for the best.

Hi Tina,

Pinellas is an enigma, having lived here my whole life I would define it this way. The central ridge and about four miles each side is a 9B. Everything coastal and about two miles in is a 10A except for the northern fringes, which is again a 9A. Things have clearly been slightly warmer here for the last few decades and I'm guessing that what's caused them to define Pinellas as being in Zone 10 is that once there was considerably more vegetation, now it's mostly concrete, asphalt, and buildings which can give off a lot of heat at night.

Tom,

Would you mind answering another question, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this after reading your reply.

We're in Cocoa Beach, Brevard County. What zone would you consider us ? I've been told 9B but I'm not sure if that's accurate either based on what has survived in my yard (and what has not).

From your description, sounds like a variegated Cotyledon tomentosa ssp. tomentosa. Did it look something like mine below (except white instead of yellow)? -- rosemariero6 YES!!!

You're right--it has been mentioned here before. This has been discussed endlessly on many different forums here at GW ever since Monsanto bought Seminis Seeds. Often it is the subject of heated debate. I, for one, don't come here to debate, so will leave this topic to those who want to discuss it. The wonderful thing about our economic system of free enterprise is that any and every consumer can voice their opinion by how they choose to spend their dollars.

Can you still link to a thread that is beyond page 67? Yes there is. I see pages all the time when I search that "cannot be found" when I click on them.???? hmmm...could you maybe give me an instance? The search feature is 'broken' on some forums, and should be reported. For instance on The Seed Saving Forum one can bring up several threads when one does a search on zinna yet when one clicks on the first one, Saving Profusion Zinnia Seed they will get Whoops! I could not find that message. What one can do then is go to the URL of the Whoops message, and remove the 2 found behind http://forums and then hit enter. The post will then come up. The problem is with the 'forums2' servor on some forums. Here.... is a thread that was at The Test Forum, and it dropped off the one and only page there. Try it. Click on the link, and then go to the top of that page and click on Return to The Test Forum. As you can see, the thread is not listed there, as it dropped off earlier this month. Magic? s

jannie hope you're getting better..it took me several trips going an alternate route before i had the courage to drive where i got rear ended seveal months ago... sue, when i worked for ma bell (in san diego) that was a common complaints..here, it's squirrels that do the most damage...you't think with all tech they could get a wire that didn't taste good! glad you're back... not much going on in mi..weds was b squish day. the rest of this week has been getting dh's laundry all done early. actaully he'll be closer to you next week. they're having a mini elevator convention at purdue u for 3 days. he and the head mechanic are attending...i probably could have gone but would much rather stay home with the cats than sit in a hotel room, lol...

I'd have no idea for your area or its micro-climates. Ricky (fawnridge) would be your best bet to answer that question, hopefully he'll come along to shed some insight to your question.
