I also find daylilies to have a soothing affect. They are so pretty, it lifts the spirits! Now that you're feeling better, I hope we'll see you here more often.

cc138, I know what you mean about just sitting around in a surreal daze and not even knowing what to do or where to turn. I did that when my daughter was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma when she was five. I remember just sitting in the kitchen and staring out the window. There was so much to do, but I just didn't care if it got done or not.

The symptoms were such that the lymph nodes in her throat were swelling and would have choked her to death within a week after her diagnosis had we not started treatment immediately. In hindsight, there were earlier symptoms that were missed.

I'm happy to say that she will be 30 in November and is happily married. When the subject of her cancer comes up there are some people around this area that still call her the miracle girl!

I know I haven't posted too many pictures here since I'm new, but I'm glad to know that you enjoyed being able to come here every day to see all the new posts. My daylilies are just beginning, so I will be able to contribute much more soon. As a matter of fact I had one (ARTEMIO) that I was so hoping to get a picture of today, but alas, the storm tore off a petal and it just wasn't to be.

I wish you all the best and you will be stronger than you ever thought you could be. You might even have days where you feel up to posting some of your daylily pictures yet this year:) It would be a treat and a joy for all of us to share.

I am so happy that our pictures brought you joy during a hard time of your life. I'm not really surprised though because I know how much I look forward to the posts everyday. I understand what you are saying because last July I had surgery for breast cancer. The love of my family and friends helped me recover but because my daylilies were at their peak I know they helped too. When my husband saw me with my bandages in the daylilies taking pictures he knew I would be OK. Judy

I am so glad I came across this thread. I am a long-time visitor but very infrequent poster. I love looking at all of the beautiful photos and hope, some day, to figure out how to post so I can share mine, too. But I sit at a computer day in and day out so the last thing I want to do when I get home from work is get on yet another computer. Anyway, I just learned Sunday night that I have breast cancer and I am terrified. It's so hard to comprehend when you feel just fine. So I am enjoying the pictures that everyone posts and if the rain ever stops I'll get outside and try to occupy my mind with thoughts of my own flowers. Keep posting, please. Barb

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was scared too when the doctor said the c word. Keep busy and think good thoughts, it really does help to stay positive. Enjoy your daylilies and maybe both of us can learn how to post pictures. :) Judy

Barb, I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. There is nothing that can explain the deep fear and anxiety that goes with finding out you have an illness.

I am glad that you and CC138 find comfort and some reprieve in looking at all the beautiful flowers here. They can be therapeutic and that is what we all hope for.

It is really uplifting & wonderful to see all the pictures posted on this forum. I too want to thank everyone here for their plentiful posts.

Some days when I am too overwhelmed with my children's autism & learning disabilities to even post short replies I find a great deal of joy and comfort in just being able to lurk through your beautiful flowers and put my mind on something so much more peaceful.

Those of you struggling with the "c" word- you will be in my thoughts and prayers for thorough & swift recovery. And for those of you who are already survivors of that dread disease- prayers of thanksgiving go up for you.

I agree! They say that the simple act of petting a dog or cat is to prolong your life. I have a dog, but I find the most peace & relaxation in gardening & taking in everything beautiful that nature has provided us to be the most uplifting feeling.
