I haven't noticed this.

That's just strange. It has never been a bud builder here.

You can see a little bit of it in this picture.

It's apparently been doing it the entire time, and I just noticed it frequently had clumps. Here is an earlier picture of it. It just keeps putting out tiny buds that grow into big ones.

It is still the same puny two fans that I originally planted, and I've only seen a few blooms in the last few years. Maybe it's not meant for Michigan.

Wow, I'm just gonna have to get Citrix!

I have a few plants that do that from time to time. SILOAM BLUSHING BRIDE will show that trait 1 year out of 3. I am beginning to think it is water and fertilizer that does it. I am just beginning to see scapes here after a very wet spring (I think we set an all time record for rain in May). I can tell you this ORANGE MAN averaged more buds per scape than ever before, and it bloomed almost 2 weeks later than usual. SO I would say maybe CITRIX just feels good this year.

It just might be those 2 fans. This'll kill you. I am so stubborn that I still have a single fan of VOLVER I bought 4 years ago. It came from Texas with the signs of having had rust (and got rust). It was shipped to me late because "it wasn't ready yet". It came to me in early June. It may bloom this year. Last year I purchased 4 fans which turned out to be a clump from a garden in Pennsylvania which did very well and bloomed like gangbusters. If you really like CITRIX try getting some from another source.

Gosh, Citrix does very well here, I sure would try again for such a beautiful daylily.

I ordered Citrix in 2009 from a well known grower in Georgia. In the spring of 2010, the grower notified me that Citrix did not fair well and they lost all but 2 fans of it. I was disappointed but I took it as a sign that perhaps I should look for a seller in a climate similar to mine, ie experiences an actual winter (LOL). I always like the challenge of trying to grow a daylily (or other plants) which typically others in my region would not try.

bambi: I agree on perhaps it being the fans. I bought Victorian Lace last spring, it didn't bloom and it didn't survive either. Had to go and buy it again and this time, a double fan. I know it can survive my zone based on my research so I think the fan that was sent was not mature enough.

Good advice. I fell in love with the flower soon after it was introduced and had to have it. My only hesitation in purchasing more is that I've heard some daylilies hybridized by Stamile while he was down south don't fare well in our nasty climate. I'm not sure where Citrix originated, but I may have to try some from another seller.

I bought mine on the auction and it started as a clump from Ridnaught Farms annual clump sale. I got Malaysian Marketplace from them at the same time Citrix has always bloomed very well and for a very long period of time.

After reading that no one else was having Citrix act as a bud builder, I pulled up half a dozen pictures of Citrix from last year, and discovered it was a bud builder last year too, but it did not have as many as it does this year. Last year, I worked a lot of extra hours, and didn't spend as much time in the garden as I have this year. Also, this year I was much more careful about watering and fertilizing prior to bloom.

I bought Johnny Cash the third time (this time I got a clump from Ridnaught's) and it is blooming and thriving now.
