So, how was it?

Cold. (28 degrees)
By next March, 28 degrees will be "nice". LOL

Only a very light scattered frost here (CT) Sun. nite. It didn't touch the figs and none of them have lost their leaves. Put them in the Garage late this afternoon. They are this years cuttings and 2006. Wasn't quite sure if I should leave them out a while longer or take them in. Quite a job! The roots had grown thru the pots...very hard to cut. I will have to repot some of them to bigger containers.

I had frost on the grass this morning (I didn't check the therm's I guess I could check the history if I wanted).

I haven't moved any of my potted figs inside yet. I also left my banana outside last night (one of two actually) and all three bamboo or my jasmine. I did move in most of my passionflowers in the past week, though.

I did move all the figs to beneath the roof of my garage (not inside, just under the edge of the roof) so that they will dry out a little (we've had a lot of rain this past couple weeks)

I'm waiting until the figs drop their leaves before moving them indoors (unless the temps drop below 25 F).

I suppose they will drop their leaves when they are ready whether they are inside or not. I'd rather have these young'ens, "confused", than hit by frost and killed.

If the leaves get burnt badly by the cold I'll bring them in right away. I would just rather the plants be all dormant or well on their way before bringing them in. I have a "putting up" room in my basement which will be their home (nice and cool and dark).

None of the plants are in pots smaller than 5 gal currently outside (both of the smaller ones are already inside)

Hate to spoil the fun, but we were a toasty 86 Sunday. It's not to late to relocate, and there are houses available within walking distance of Encanto Farms. ;-)

How many millions of dollars does it cost for one of those houses?

It Was COLD Sunday Night, 26 Degrees!!! This was a major frost here in central Pennsylvania, I thought it snowed!!!! I grabbed my last Zucchini. My Kale will be fine, also the other greens. I think it makes it taste better when frost hits it!! The figs are fine though, real toasty by the wood burner in the basement. I brought them in a little while ago. Ciao, Maggie

Murky and Peg, here in the ghetto, they are cheaper, and many have large lots. I'm just 5-6 minutes from downtown.

Y'all should think about Texas. We have it all... heat, mosquitoes, more heat, nice alkaline soil, and all the humidity along the coast helps keep us looking young and beautiful well beyond our years.

If you're not into the day spa package, you could try central Texas. The Austin/San Antonio area has all the dry heat your figgies can handle. Also, its so much cheaper here. You can buy a nice 4 bedroom house for under $200K still. I think a 6'X8' Rubbermaid shed cost more than that in California. And the land on the north side of Austin still is running about $5-8K per acre.

Good thing I'm on well water and on 10 acres of CLEARED land so no worries. I stayed incase the embers were a problem but unlike the Cedar Fire, the Witch Creek Fire didn't get to within 4-5 miles of me. Didn't loose electricity or the internet either.

I have several figs I've started in plastic cups. The humidity is high in the tub they are in so I have a mold problem. I brush the twigs with a 10% bleach 2-3 times a week to keep the mold down. Is there a better way to stop the mold?

Sue, dehumidify (let in some fresh air) them for a few hours, half a day, and then every couple of days. Mold is usually a sign of excess humidity. Some get moldy easier than others. It can be a balancing act.
