These were taken very early this morning.....much to hot later in the day to be outside. 97 with a heat index of 105..supposed to hit 99 tomorrow...YIKES!! Who else is suffering in this terrible heat wave? How about some of this

Lots of great ones. I love Very Berry Ice and Newberry Festival. They just have the cooling colors needed for your heat wave.

I love your clump shots! Your seedling is very colorful, very nice. I have Eenie Allegro, mine hasn't bloomed yet, but has never been that brilliant color as yours. EA is a real bloom machine, isn't it? Thanks so much for sharing

I came in from gardening and was thrilled to see your post! I love to see clump shots, especially ones as healthy and pretty as yours are. What I always marvel at are those nicely mulched beds with nary a weed in sight. I like each & every one of these because they look so marvelous blooming away. What a beautiful sight! I finally got my order from Earlybird a couple days ago and Golliwog is planted. I know it will take a long time for mine to look as great as yours but I do hope it gives me a bloom or two this year, even though I got it in late. Gee, I thought I had answered later posters, but I guess not. Thanks to all of you who have commented on the clumps...Clown Parade has done beautifully for me for the first year, Dick, I have the sibling, Marilyn Lee Boch, but while it does well, Clown Parade is the better plant here. Billi, it seems odd that you will be getting warm when we cool off, but that is the way it is. Mantis, you know I have whined continuously about all of the weeding I've had to do; thank you. Debra, I figure I have to kill a plant three times before I give up on it. Hope AL works for you this time. Maryl, I wish that was Bermuda grass you saw. That bed has been weeded but not mulched , so I have to continually weed until it is mulched...that stinking grass is closs to a nut grass...requires digging out, but that is just a leader and I can pull it back. To all who like Philistine Champion, it is another wonderful plant. Julia, if you read this, how is your doing? kay

Little Light of Mine is so massive! Is it just one clump? Or did you divide it and plant mini clumps together? It definitely wins the prize for most amazing clump. All the other clumps are gorgeous, especially Purple Honey Creeper and Shake the Mountains. Your pink prettiness clump is fabulous, but I don't think the name is Visual Appeal. Yes Rita, I know we sure need something to cool things off down here! :)

ngraham...this is the first time my EA has been so colorful also. It usually tends to be on the more mauve/pink side with pale yellow sepals. Lots of my dl's colors are much more saturated this year than normal.

I think I like the picture of Ice Carnival with the variegated grass (Cabaret?) the most. Looks great together! Of course, all of your DL's are stunning. Makes me wish mine would hurry up and bloom.

Great clumps! Your foliage is still looking nice. Mine is starting to get ratty. I think my favorite of these is Siloam Ethel Smith. Such a pretty little thing! It was 95 here with a heat index of 102, and it will be even worse tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to this stretch of extremely hot temps in the forecast. I saw several of my seed pods had withered and died in today's heat.

Karen, I'm not sure what cv that grass is, some kind of miscanthus (spelling ?) but which one, I don't know. Seems like it was called Ribbon grass when I bought it years ago.

Debra, some of my foliage is beginning to show signs of stress in this awful heat too. Look closely at Red Ribbons foliage. It's one that isn't looking so great. :) I hope I don't lose any seed pods. I haven't done too much hybridizing this year, but would love to get some seed from the ones I have crossed.

Oh I love these clump shots.Just Love VERY BERRY ICE. just gorgeous,and I love ICE CARNIVAL, too.Has a very cooling look...My DL's are looking bad now, the foliage has some brown streaks,its been so hot and very dry lately.It got to 95 today.don't know what the heat index was, but it was way up there.

The heat sure doesn't show in your pictures. They're beautiful. Very Berry Ice and Ice Carnival are the perfect cooling names for hot weather.

Ice Carnival is just beautiful with the different grasses, but I like your seedling the best. It looks like it has been outlined with yellow paint! I would call it Jester's Cap.

Oh man! Very Berry Ice and Trahylta are amazing! I will have to keep a lookout for those!

Looking at seedling pics are my favorites to see, but clump shots of the pretties comes in second! LOVE THEM ALL and that unknown seedling is quite a standout!

Love the clump shots! Especially that seedling, because it has that nice light mid-rib to accent the darker colors.

I'd have to pick Adamas as my favorite.

We are having the same intense heat that you are Jan. High 90's with triple digit heat indexes. It takes DH and I both to keep up with the watering chores, I am going to hate to see my light bill next month, we are on a well.

Your daylilies are wonderful. I love the unknown x unknown, very unusual.

Nice clumps shots.
I have to ask about your ICE CARNIVAL as I've been told the true color has a yellowish tint and not very white. Your pic shows it to appear very white. Do you think in different parts of the country the bloom shows differently?
Last year mine bloomed more with a yellowish tint but as the day progressed it turned more white. This one has me perplexed as the scapes came up this year very thick like a tet.

I also have Eenie. Hope it blooms this year as last year it did not. Great shot of it. I think though I will have to get rid of it. When I bought it I didn't realize just how short the scapes are.

I have not seen a scape yet on Trahlyta but after today's rain maybe I can venture out tomorrow to check. If yours is just having its FFO now, I guess I have a longer wait than I thought for my first bloom.

Thanks Jan, Clump shots are my favorite! I like to see the different angel looks of their pretty faces. I have Ice Carnival yet to bloom. Newberry Festival is so pretty. White midribs make it sparkle.

Julia...IC is a pale yellow...it just appears more white in the photo. Now by mid afternoon, it is white in my garden.

What a wonderful display of gorgeous daylilies. There is just nothing like clump shots. Your seedling is very pretty, bright and cheery and I love its midrib. My favorite is Very Berry Ice. Great shots.
