May I post a new fig grower's question?

The fig bush that I started from a cutting has fruit for the first time this year!!!! I read how to tell when the fruit is ripe: "fruit turns down and becomes a brown color" &, sure enuff, they did! I have no idea what variety I have but the fruit is small (3/4 inch in diameter or less)& no larger than those from the very old bush the cutting came from in Roswell, NM... how large do some fruit varieties get?

I seem to have a problem with the ripe fruit disappearing ... one day I see a lot of brown fruit and go next day to pick them but they have disappeared!!! Did birds beat me to them? The tropical looking leaves are so beautiful that they alone are worth growing a fig bush! It and the pomegranate bush are 'buddies' in one hot corner of the yard and both seem to get along fine!
