I keep my Max. teniufolia in a south western window. it is in a plastic net pot with NZ Sphag. The room it is in varies between 65-70F in the day and 50-55F at night. I water less in the winter but I never let it stay dry for extended periods of time. So I water when the sphag dries. You may want to continue with your watering schedule, especially since yours is mounted. I would suggest taking a break from the fertilizer until your see green root tips again. These indicate that the plant is actively growing. When the roots are damaged or when a plant is not actively growing, they can not take up fertilizer as well. So the fertilizer can harm the plants. Sometimes pseudobulbs can get so shriveled that they can't plump back up again. So you may not see improvement that way. Continue to pay attention to the roots. They will tell you if the plant is getting enough water. I would not bother trimming the roots for now. I would do all that in the spring.

Hi Catherinet, I have a hardy Perry's giant sunburst. It was planted as a tuber by a guy that works on my pond. He planted it in a container that is 24" in diameter - not sure of the depth. But he said the pot was plenty big enough, and I could keep it in the same pot for several years. He planted it in black cow. He planted it in the early spring and it shot up leaves pretty quickly. The leaves stayed green and nice up until about a month ago and as I said started to turn brown around the edges. My pond man is here in the area only during the winter and spring and then heads back up north so I called him and he said maybe it was too hot - I have the container sunk into the soil and the area around it has little flat river stones. But I always heard lotus really like the heat. Anyway maybe some of this info will help you help me. Thanks.

Hello cutterpup, It sounds like the tropical sundews are about right for the height and non-dormancy requirements. Drosera spatulata, Drosera adelae, Drosera prolifera, and Drosera alicia are some of the sundews that are easy growers and about 3-4 inches in rosette or height at the most. Some of the Butterworts might be worth a try as most grow low rosettes and some, like the Mexican species, grow year round and produce beautiful flowers. Cephalotus follicularis might be worth a try even though it is considered a semi-temperate as it would enjoy the temperatures you can provide and will only rest for a short time in winder, not go completely dormant. If you can get more space, a Nepenthes would eventually be worth a try as they are large beautiful plants, some liking a drop in night temperatures as well. Nepenthes can be slow growing, so if you get one that is only a few inches tall, it might take a couple of years to grow too large for your setup. They eventually vine out and some species have been reported growing out to 20-30 feet across the ground or up trees in the wild though you can clip and trim them, producing cuttings to make more plants. My Nepenthes sanguinea was about 3 inches tall when I received it, producing 2 1/2 inch pitchers. Now, only 4 months later, it is still only about 4 inches tall and producing 4 inch pitchers.

That's a pretty small pot to grow pumpkins in.. You could probably grow one plant in it but 3 will definitely be a stretch.
