Columnar Norway Spruce 'Cupressina' Growth Habit in Wisconsin
Comments (6)and perhaps that is why she should ask in the conifer forum .. since the resident tree nut .. admits he is no conifer expert .. lol in conifers.. size ESTIMATES are generally at 10 years ... and if you divide any given number by 10.. you get a general annual growth rate .... and yes.. it usually has a range.. how it all works in your zone.. in your garden.. is left to fate.. and getting fully established ... carp.. now she doenst need to go over there.. lol .. screening really has nothing to do with spacing.. or annual growth rate.. its a function of how fast you want the screen ... do you want to wait 5 years for them to screen??? ... its all about instant gratification ... vs natural form ... ken...See MoreCupressina Columnar Spruce cones
Comments (10)I'm not really concerned with the how tall it gets. Ultimately it won't grow as quickly in my zone anyways. The height isn't the only part that is going to get a lot bigger - you've got it way to close to the fence, are placing it like it was going to become a small shrub. And Norway spruce is a cold climate adapted species, that doesn't necessarily grow markedly slower in a climate a few zones colder than the one here. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&id=E35DFBC59E5BBEE14882B73AFF933E8597FE36F8&thid=OIP.c4j37QvbX9_conp6qvH-zwHaIf&mediaurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thetreefarm.com%2Fmedia%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct%2Fcache%2F1%2Fthumbnail%2F9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95%2Fp%2Fi%2Fpicea-abies-cupressina-columnar-norway-spruce_1.jpg&exph=480&expw=419&q=cupressina+spruce&selectedindex=28&ajaxhist=0&vt=0&eim=2...See Morelooking for evergreen privacy fence
Comments (17)L Clark. I looked into the Islei spruce as well. There are some sites that say only 4 foot wide but many say up to 10-12. The totem is said to be more narrow. I love them to as they are what are doing well after the last crazy springs and winters we have had here in Montana. I lost a purple ash tree, I will be pulling out a total of 16 Brandin Arborvitaes and many shrubs and flowers—ones to at are rated for a zone 3. All around town they are pulling out dead trees. The Arborvitaes and ash trees did the worst. If I could build a 15 foot wall I would after what it’s going to cost to replace these trees and the time it took for them to get big....See Morehelp! Comments (8)So I am considering 2-3 dappled willows in concrete containers Seeing mixed info on the willows (including a GC guy). I have a walkout basement, so I don’t think foundation is a concern. But I have drain, irrigation, and pool pipes running close by. Can’t determine if those would be cause for concern if the dappled willow (shrub) were to be put in the ground...See MoreEmbothrium
