'White' Rose Campion?
Comments (9)There are various cultivars of lychnis coronaria - the classic rose campion is hot pink, but I have a variety as well called "Angel's Blush", which is mostly white with a hint of pink. I also have lychnis alba, a "wildflower" that is all over the place in my yard. I leave it some places and yank it from others - it does not have the silvery cast to the foliage that lychnis coronaria does....See MoreTell me about lychnis/rose campion
Comments (23)Cameron, I love your beautiful cottage "estate". Never tire of looking at your photos. Wish you would post more and more often. Talk about "eyte candy"! Scrumptious! I grew the Spanish Lavender one year. It did not make it through the winter though. But it sure was pretty that summer. It is my fave of the Lavenders. I would sure like to try growing it again, but can't find the plants anymore. Only one nursery had it. It was sold as an "annual", but didn't sell well, so I guess she just quit stocking it. Such a lovely combo of the Spanish Lavender and Rose Campion. You and Brenda (GG) sure have an eye for combining plants in your gardens. ~Annie...See MoreRose Campion (Lychnis Coronia) with?
Comments (11)It combines nicely with many hardy salvias too. I just wish it would bloom when "mulberry jam" salvia blooms - both have slightly fuzzy flowers and are the same color. Greggii and some other salvias come in the same or similar hot pink. And what about the knockout rose? Having a knockout rose in the back and the campion more in the foreground looks nice. For fall, try a reddish/hot pinkish aster like "alert". I would not plant them directly side by side, but near works great. GGG...See Morecollecting rose campion seeds
Comments (8)In addition, even after the pods open and seed fall out, give them a little squeeze as sometimes a bunch get hung up. They should be fairly dry and crack as you pinch them. When I harvest rose campion I take a pair of scissors and a large bowl so I can cut down and shake seed off at the same time. Some pods don't turn dark, just a light brown, so look for the opening at the top. I figure that when ma nature is ready to cut the seeds loose, they are ready. It's worked so far for four years of harvest....See Moregardeners_hands
