Gezz, part two even outdoes part one. Stunning bloomers! WORTH IT ALL really does look beautiful there, too bad about the prior blooms being blotchy. And I love the beautiful yellow color of WORTHY CREATION. Love the coneflower shot too, so pretty. But IN SEARCH OF ANGELS is my favorite, what a glowing hot pink vivid color. Just wonderful.

Those are really pretty. I love the color of In Search of Angels. And Roman Cohort stole my heart the first time you posted a pic of it, and I have loved the blooms this year. Those are my favorites, along with I Remember You. Beautiful. Yes it sounds like peak to me. Hard work but wonderfly time. BThe peactiures are beautiful, as always.

no Brenda, i think we're good- you're bringing the rehmannia, right? I think that's all we traded for. You said to surprise you. I'm bringing a couple things and you can pick. John has rehmannia, too- but if yours is already adapted for dry shade i'd rather start with yours. His is in delicious soil and pouted & mostly died when i transplanted it to my clay. :) I had it for a long time and gave it to lots of folks, but now my original's died off from the droughts and i can't recall who all i gave it to. Isn't that funny? Oh well. Ralph, thanks for checking. Figured i'd check in with you first to see if you were bringing some anyhow. I've actually had decent luck with the purples in a few hours of sun- better than the peaches have done. I have a few i can maybe dig up and take rather than spending the money. I'll have to give them a critical eye if they're really fit to dig (they tend to look ok in my yard but not in the ultra groomed garden at the fair). During the drought they reduced down to conserve and are just starting back up really. I'm just really loathe to dig something that's established for just a month or so and then have to dig it right back up just to bring it home again. I may splurge and get one or 2 eye poppers and fill in with something else (i have lots of strawberry begonia). Thanks again.

Edward - I've seen your photos of Victorian Lace, and they always look beautiful. Mine doesn't get full sun, so I don't get the best bud count possible. But the foliage is some of the best in the garden this year, so I count myself lucky. Rita - I consider myself lucky to have so many volunteer rudbeckias this year. That one may actually be two plants that have grown together since it seems to have both plan and eyed flowers. They really brighten the place up, and keep blooming for a few weeks after the daylilies are done. Kay - Thanks! I love all three of those, and pretty much everything else that's blooming. LOL Ben - Grape Twizzler is having a tremendous season. I'm very pleased with it. Bigack - I notice the two you picked were trios. Everything's better in threes, I think. Linda - I'm not usually drawn to the hot colors, but Inca Prince always grabs me. Blue-Eyed Butterfly is one of Lambertson's best. Casey - You are right about the Walking In Beauty triplets. The lower one is not identical in color to the other two. I suspect that fan either gets less water, or more sun, or both, than the fans of the other two. Cindy and Nancy G. - Blue-Eyed Butterfly remains one of my top three favorite Lambertsons, even though it no longer reblooms where I have it planted. I just love that triangular pattern on the eye! Wren-Garden - I hate to say this, but the daylilies in the garden where Victorian Lace is growing didn't get any fertilizer last fall or this spring. I'm only "feeding" them hose water and rain water. Mantis - Yes, Earth Music is vigorous, even when it's planted in part shade. My neighbor's trees and shrubs are shading mine so much I didn't know if it would bloom at all. But it's putting on a pretty good show. It doesn't have the branching and buds it did before the cherry tree went in on the other side of the fence, but it's hanging in there. Debra

jdez or shall I call you Jae? :) -are you finished insulating? What is next in your DIY world? So the blasted soffit! Argh! The main hugemongous support beam goes right through there and that is why there is a soffit. Who puts soffits in these days, everyone is busy taking them OUT! Boo! So I *think* the crown will be in front of it and up to it so you won't see a big gap. I hope to find out when I get home from work tomorrow. See, see I told ya! It IS Seattle Mist and it does look gray in the kitchen. Crazy color but I do really love it reading both ways. Island stain is gray but the wood reads through yet. It's called silas and it has a black glaze over it - Shiloh cabinetry. Good grief I hope the floors are life proof but they are wood so they will patina. They are hickory and more rustic with the hand scraping, etc. which I hope will help hide all that 2 boys and a dog have to offer. With it being so open I didn't want a huge transition in flooring so we kept the living/dining/kitchen all wood. So yes, to accommodate the MW and the fridge (or keep it from sticking way out) we pulled those base cabs on the fridge wall forward 6" and the uppers there are 18 or 19" deep, I already can't remember. Doh. Anyhow, with it being so open I didn't want 6" of the side of the fridge hanging out. Bonus that the counter will also be deeper there and that is where I anticipate the toaster and coffee pot to live as well as it being lunch making station. They should all be easily tucked out of view too. I have a very love HATE relationship with FB myself and typically only get on there when prompted by someone else. I have worked in purchasing or materials besides a brief 11 year stint in healthcare when we started a family. Healthcare because they offer part time work and quite a variety of it. So now my kiddos are older and I am back in Purchasing but not in automotive or manufacturing anymore. Breath of fresh air to do something different but still in purchasing. I like numbers and I like variety. I too hope it's happy and long lasting as I am not a job hopper kinda girl. Thanks for not asking, lol. I don't mind. ;) Michelle-thank you. They are pre-finished solid hickory. They had 2 stains and we picked the lighter one (tobacco I think they call it), the other is more a java really deep color. We thought it would show too much dust so we stuck with this one and I like it. It also kind of grounds it as the fireplace and mantle were looking a little formal to me and I think the floor adds back some casual feel. We are not formal people at all. So mini-rant - dh is adamant about wanting cup pulls. 1 - I don't like them as I like to reach from the top not the bottom and 2 - what? why on earth does he care about the pulls and 3 - who uses the kitchen and not just to get a glass for a drink. Pfft. Shaking head. I hope he doesn't mind me going out to the barn when he's building it and insisting on flower boxes or something........turkey. Unfortunately for him I am just as adamant about NOT wanting them. I get his point, they would look nice and I get it he likes the look but they'd drive me nuts to use so it's a no go.

ppbenn--that bread bowl is from Home Goods. It's going back on Saturday. Turns out I'm not the only one who "borrows" from Home Goods for photo shoots according to the photographer. I had to give the writer the resource list for the stuff in the kitchen by today. I finally managed to buy a domain name for my little imaginary design consultation/stylist business. I was given a lot of tips from beagles. Of course since it was going into print I wanted it to be just a simple (myname dot com) for now. I believe I can do the technical address that beagles suggested which involved the keywords in the address and then link the two together. The writer said she would include it in the article. Cross all those GW fingers. The magazine is regional (about 5 or 6 counties) in Central PA get the magazine. The magazine is called Susquehana Style.

Rita and Kay - In Search of Angels has finally grown some taller scapes, and the color and ruffling is better than ever.

WORTH IT ALL has been a disappointment here for two years running. As you may remember, I have heavy dew here nearly every morning, and that is the problem. WIA takes three days to open, so it gets a double dose of the dew to splotch the blooms. I'm sure it would be beautiful somewhere with drier mornings. I am putting it, along with several others with this problem specific to morning dew, on my fall sales list.

Is the pink of In Search of Angels similar to the color of Absolute Treasure?
I'm looking for a replacement for AT because of its crappy foliage.
Appreciate your opinion and your amazing photos.

Heidi - Both In Search of Angels and Absolute Treasure have highly saturated color in my garden. But I don't know of any other flower that compares in color with Absolute Treasure. AT has a lavender rose color, and ISOA's color is cerise rose. I guess you could say they're similar - kinda. I'm sorry to hear AT has bad foliage in your garden. The foliage here is above average. I would not recommend ISOA unless you are looking for something with very short scapes. The bud count is below average here, and not nearly as good as Absolute Treasure, although I have AT planted in part shade. ISOA has only increased by one fan in the four or five years I've had it. And it has never rebloomed. On a scale of 1 to 10 for me, AT is a 9.5 and ISOA is a 6. I would never part with Absolute Treasure, but if a friend asked for a piece of In Search of Angels, I would gladly give away all three fans. It takes a pretty picture, but I don't think it makes my Top 500 daylilies.

Wow, amazing photos, I can't pick a favorite, they are all just so beautiful! Okay, if you make me choose, I'll go with Roman Cohort or I remember You, but In Search of Angels has a wonderful color too. Worth it All looks beautiful in your photo, but if it takes its time opening like that I can quite see it would have problems. I had a one early in the season that took a couple of days to open, you can really tell that the moisture affects them.

Wow,These are just beautiful. My favorite is I REMEMBER YOU and next choice is VICTORIAN LACE. I am going to have to hurry up and dig mine up again,and pot it up.It had one fan when I got it seveal years ago, and I potted it up and in a couple months, it had 2 fansand looked so healthy and nice, that I planted it. Now its back to one fan again and not looking good,and I dont want to lose this DL. I have another one thats not doing great planted either, so will have to dig it up too,and pot it.
WORTH IT ALL is a beauty, too.

Jean - I hope your Victorian Lace makes it. It is such a ruffly, gorgeous daylilies. I've found VL tends to go dormant in heat and drought conditions. Mine totally disappeared one year, but came back just fine the next spring.

Those hot pinks of In Search of Angels and Roman Cohort are eye-poppers. My Roman Cohort has never had that saturated pink color (more lilac/rose here). No wonder you say it's one of your favorites.

Can anyone tell me what causes the "splotchiness" that you refer to? I seem to get that on some of my daylilies. John

Chris - Roman Cohort's color is indescribable because it's always changing with the weather. This is the first day it's looked more rose pink this season. For the previous two weeks, it's been more of a berry shade. Sometimes it looks more lavender.

John - There are two reasons a daylily might be splotchy. Daylilies that start to open the night before can fall victim to heavy morning dew like I have nearly every day in June. The other reason would be insects called thrips, which especially like to attack the reds and purples. If you have thrips, there will be bumnps on your buds. Thrips are tiny black creatures that look the top part of an exclamation mark!

Val - I Remember You and Roman Cohort are excellent plants!

Kathy - Thanks for the comment about the combo. I gave away most of Luau Meow clump this spring, but left a few fans because I liked the way it looked with Nutmeg Spice.

I need to know your secret! I have In Search of Angels and Roman Cohort, and while very pretty, they don't look half as good as yours.

Najoba - My "secret" is lots of rain this week and some cooler night temperature. I know those factors are hard to come by in Texas.

I love In Search Of Angels! What a nice bright color.

And your picture of the coneflower and coreopsis is very nice! I have zagreb coreopsis and just love it's long bloom season. My coneflowers are the yellow ones, and they sure brighten up the garden, especially after the daylilies are done.

Going on picture alone, IN SEARCH OF ANGELS is my pick out of this bunch. But then I read your less than glowing review of how it behaves in your garden, so I figure that's like a free pass to pick a second favorite! :)

It is a tie between I REMEMBER YOU and ROMAN COHORT.

Heidi - This is really funny. This morning In Search Of Angels and Absolute Treasure are exactly the SAME color. Before today I would have testified in a court of law that they are NOT the same color. Of course, Absolute Treasure is one that changes shades with the weather.

Thanks for your response. Based on your comments In Search of Angels will not be coming to my garden. I'll just have to put up with Absolute Treasure's foliage issues 'cause I really do love the color. I'd also like to find a replacement for Smokey Mt Autumn for the same reason but can't give up that beautiful flower.
