My first impression is that it's just that the island is a little too red with your floor. Staining it darker - espresso or walnut brown (or even black would work though it won't have the same type of warmth) might change how you feel. And adding grey in fabrics, stools etc. could satisfy your need for grey. The thing about staining it too is that if you really find that it doesn't help you love your kitchen and you're still stuck on grey, you can have it painted then and it's paint over stain as opposed to layers of paint. And you can't really go in the opposite direction - from paint to stain - without a lot of headaches. But the bottom line is that it's your kitchen and you get to pick what you like and if the answer is a grey island then go for it.

It does seem to have potential...if you can get past all the Liberace decorating to actually *see* the characteristics of the structure. I had to get up and take a Dramamine in order to look at the kitchen shots, especially the one with the glass table and floral arrangements! Hard to believe people actually live like that-???? Oh I forgot to mention- I purchased the table and 6 chairs for $650!! The seller bought it at a high end furniture store that I was familiar with. It is a replica of an antique, and it was made in Italy. The chairs were purchased separately, but I always loved the style of these chairs. The chairs have some scuffs on it, but the table was perfect! The chairs I sold were scuffed as well, and black shows the kiddie fingerprints, and drives me batty!!

Hi Blueisland. I have mine next to my cedar fence too. Those blooms should look stunning next to the cedar. I am planning to put a purple clematis next to it. I can hardly wait. Happy gardening! Oh yeah...First day of Spring today!! Woooohooooo!!
