2 Shades of Marseilles Watercolor and other pics

I love Marseilles Watercolor and it took on some pastel and some deep shades.

Here is Casper's Shadow, more purply than peach on the outer part

and Easy on the Eyes. Couldn't get a shaded picture,but it was lovely!!

Apricot Sparkles near a growing Hibiscus

and Hot Papaya Echinacea in my daylily raised bed on concrete.

Love the coneflowers! Apricot Sparkles and Easy On The Eyes tie for my favorite. Easy On The Eyes sure is a bright one guaranteed to get anyones attention. I just love the red edge that matches the red eye.

While I adore Marseilles Watercolor, Easy on the Eyes blew me away when I saw the photo. And I've fallen in love with that Echinacea. I just love it's red color and different form. I'll have to look for that one.

Tangerine Horses and Big Sur are my favorites of this bunch. I really like russian sage with daylilies but have not had enough room for it. In the fall I'm taking down an ugly tree and then there will be room. Yay. I love the airy look with daylilies and it was super with your Tangerine Horses. Christine

Yes, Bass is the MAN! I love my RdB. I'm going outside this evening and going to air-layer one limb! Thanks, Sal! Vinnie, these were not breba. Here in the Carolinas, it got hot here QUICK. In March we were in 80 degree weather. Plus I had these trees in my greenhouse over the winter. They went dormant but not below 30 degrees. It got down to 30 degree in that greenhouse but I controlled the temperure and by the time March came, my trees were all leafed out and ready for the world! I got 2 MVS figs that have swollen up and I want to pick it! That darn mocking bird got to one of them! I hate birds but I love chicken! Next year I'm going to have a lot more figs and I'm going to have to place a lot of netting around my trees. I have 2 Zumwalt trees. They are fast growers for me and both are in 5 gallon buckets, but I this Fall I have to transplant them to the ground. Below are some other figs about to get ripe. Here is a picture of mother RdB fig Here is my mother White Marseilles tree: Here is my Dark Portuguese Here are 2 of my Black Madeira figs. When I got these last year they were sad but look at them now! I place them in these superpots because I wanted super roots. These trees had mosaic virus but with the extra fertilzer I think its going away. Time will tell. I have 4 other BM I propagated from cuttings, they are growing nicely too. Here is a picture of Stella. This tree has taught me a lot about figs. This tree is 3 years old. It did not produce until last year and I only got 2 figs from it but they were the sweetest of all. Last year I had this tree in total sun and blistering afternoon sun and little shade. Well the direct heat was too much sun and the tree grew very slowly. This year I place it in morning sun...about 2 hours and the rest is all shade. I started watering it twice a day and feeding it more and now I got 6 figs and a few little figlets popping out. So, I started placing others in the shade. I'm going to start in thread and show the picture of those. Cheers, Dennis

Yes Martin:Warren Turner from Columbia Maryland had it first,as a find ,cutting from an old tree growing There from 1943. As for the name,The old Italian lady had 2 one next to the other,and she called them,One,is a Turkey and the other is Marseilles. It turned out both are the same cultivar,and Is not a Brown Turkey. The old ,over 70 yrs,lady was not the original ,who planted them,because it was her Father,so she did not have any other details,to the exact origine and name. Only that he planted them after he returned from Europe,in the war time. I do not detect the taste as well as Dr Leon,but one should also note that the Climate is much better for figs in New Mexico,compared to here in New Jersey,so I suspect,better Flavor there than here. Yet is enough good tasting for me,wich I tell you,I am not easy to please. Best Regards

I'm back from the shade store and yes, friends, I've gone completely overboard!! I have yet another shade to consider. This time I brought home several shades to find the right color. Now, I think I have the right color, but the shape is new, believe it or not!! It's a little difficult to describe. Basically it's a rectangle with a bell shape. The shorter sides flare out in a soft curve. I have 4 pics to share, in order to hopefully show the true shape of the shade. Picture #1 Picture #2 (from the side to show the outward curve on the short side) Picture #3 (a complete side view) Picture #4 I think I like how the rectangle shape of the shade works with the rectangle of the piano. So, if anyone is still interested in this saga, which now has really turned into a saga, what do you think of the latest choice? Thanks to all who have responded. I really do appreciate your input.

MARSEILLES WATERCOLOR is super pretty in both shades. EASY ON THE EYES is definitely an eye catcher.

Great to see the color variation of MARSEILLES WATERCOLOR. They are all very good pics and no favorites here as I like all of them.

I've always loved coneflowers and your Hot Papaya one is very stunning.

Easy on the eye is a beauty, but I do love Marseilles Watercolor! That is my pick and I like the colors in the first photo. Hot Papaya is a really nice echinacea!

MARSEILLES WATERCOLOR just keeps calling you back for another look, doesn't she? Your photo of Echinacea Hot Papaya is so pretty with the red flower against a backdrop of all that green.

Marseilles Watercolor is really pretty, especially the last one of it,& Easy on the Eye is so bright, they are my pics! I got a Hot Papaya last fall, it was really late showing up this spring, but looks healthy now. But NO BLOOMS!

So Easy on the Eyes performs strongly for you? Here, almost all of Liz Salter's stuff is tender. What has been your experience with Apricot Sparkles? A reliable rebloomer? I have had some trouble with it not being consistent. Clumps seem to get grassy quickly and blooming is reduced.

Mantis, Easy on the Eyes overwintered in a container this long, cold winter, so I'm impressed. Apricot sparkles does give me consistent rebloom in afternoon sun. Mine is also grown in a large container.

Hmmmm-never thought about putting a raised bed over concrete, I have an area where some previous owner buried a chunk of concrete that I just put flower pots on.
