From a recent trip to the peak of Mt. Diablo (Contra Costa county, California bay area. 3,864 ft; 1,178 m)
Pinus sabiniana (Gray pine), young tree

Cones. Significantly larger than the cones I usually see on pines in Colorado (lodgepole, bristlecone, ponderosa, pinyon, limber).

Cone (or conelet?)
Foliage
To me, the needles resemble those of ponderosa, except slightly longer, less dense, and with a paler color
Stand
Many Gray pines on the side of this mountain.
Also known as Ghost pine. Maybe it gets that name from the light greyish green needles?
