Please talk me out of it....

I have purchased lots of plants on clearance so far this summer--clematis, heuchera, ferns, astilbe, crocosmia, asiatic lilies, caladium, and a few others that are eluding memory right now. I've been keeping them watered in their pots in a semi-shady spot of the yard. Watering is a bit easier right now than it has been most of the summer, as we were away from the house most evenings due to our three kids' ball schedules. Now the regular season is over and we've had a break. I've had the chance to water regularly and even revived some things that i thought were lost. Well, we have a tournament for our daughter starting next week and I am afraid that I won't be able to water them while we are gone. I'm wanting to go ahead and put them in the ground, but I'm pretty sure it's a bad idea. After all, they won't get watered any more frequently in the ground than they will where they are now.

Should I plant them, or leave them? Are they better off in their pots in the shade until early fall?
