New Project, Old Stones

Nell Jean

What I didn't need in the heat of July was a new bed, but circumstances of the old vine covered stump just made it so.

Three big stones were plucked by machine from other beds where they were not part of a great show.

I'll be moving smaller stones with hand trucks. Rocks and slightly raising the beds help keep

the whole yard from looking as if it is sliding down the slope into the swale.

Moving Crape myrtles will have to wait for first frost. Some scattered seeds can hold the place and

the thought until permanent plants are chosen. More soil has to be hauled in.

The dark stuff is well composted gin trash.

Lots of Creative Staring to be done here. Where exactly to place two white Crape Myrtles like the one across the drive?

Yellow Lantana or Lavender? Purple Heart on the back side, or Alternanthera?

What perennials? Which succession of annuals? Spring bulbs?

Can I find enough small plants of S. leucantha in the upper garden to continue that theme all the way across?

While I'm Staring, I can be limbing up the crape myrtles and many other chores. This could take a long time.

Nell
