Minis and small flowers blooming this week

Bloom season seems to be ahead of schedule (again!) this year. Club garden tours will be on July 2nd but we will likely peak at least a week to 10 days ahead of that. Here are some of the small and mini blooms from the past few days.

ARTIST AT HEART (E.H. Salter):

LITTLE LEMON TWIST by Pat Cochenour. This is sooo cute - perfect pinched crispate form in a tiny bloom!

STELLA'S RUFFLED FINGERS has been a real showoff and is sending up many more scapes.

and two really, really cute ones by Tim Herrington.

Great blooms and I just love that pictures of STELLA'S RUFFLED FINGERS. Absolutely fantastic. Mine is loaded with buds and scapes also and will soon be blooming.

I agree - wonderful photos, especially of Stella's Ruffled Fingers! I also love the pattern on Artist at Heart.

Nancy I have most of my small and minis growing in pots and they seem to be somewhat smaller than the large daylilies but they are all fairly young plants so time will tell how small they will really be. They are all growing at this time in 8 to 10 inch pots. Linda

I'm sure you will get better responses than mine, but if you really don't care if they bloom or not - just cut the scapes off as they develop. Several of my hostas don't put up a very pretty bloom - I love them for the foliage - so I just cut them off. If that is the case - then pick the small hosta you love for the leaf!

Hi Bill, My cuttings are all doing great, Teresa Wilder is small, but growing strong, Lavender is really getting strong leaves and starting to grow.. But Gullotts Sunset is "erupting" ha Dark red tips ready to explode!! Will get a picture.. Am excited..Your recommendation of California Sally!! going to bloom!! Next to Aztec Gold.. (got your colors coming with daisy) Believe Jeanne Morrange is going to bloom, watching carefully on the possible buds coming! But the ultimate.. 4 years ago the original celadine you gave me.. die back, almost lost it..But two years later...got new cuttings.. Now Is going to bloom gain!!! ha . Is 3 ft tall, promise. will make this one it grow!!! Karen B

Baby Fresh and Stella's Ruffled Fingers have such soft femine colors. I like the pattern and colors in your picture of Dixie Blues also...Maryl

Lovely litle blooms, Floota. I have learned to really like the little ones. It surprises me. I think my favorite is Artist at Heart, but Stellas ruffles Fingers is really pretty.

I kinda like the unusual color of DIXIE BLUES, but love Mayor of Munchkinland, than name & the looks :)

Beautiful photos! The first two are tied for my favorite. I love the eye on ARTIST AT HEART. But the color of BABY FRESH makes my mouth water.

STELLAS RUFFLED FINGERS would be one I'd be interested in IF I had the room to add more this year.

A couple more small and minis opened yesterday. One I'd forgotten about and it bloomed for the first time and blew me away. It was a bonus from James Hall, and is one of his, called 'Buddy's Angel Baby.' It is a cute little 3" flower out of Lavender Blue Baby. I hope to get a better picture that more accurately captures the colors, but this was dark purple with a very black eye.

This picture had too much sunlight but it is another uniquely colored small one. This is from Hilton Anderson in Region 14- 'Coffee to Go.' At 3", it is a small flower.

Those who don't grow small or mini blooms should try them! They're addictive.

Buddy's Angel Baby looks WONDERFUL in those colors. Can't wait to see it's true self.

I also like Coffee To Go. What a pretty shade of pink.
