Tall shade plant/bush?

OK ya'all...I'm havin a issue with one particular area. I am asking on this forum because on one side of the problem area I have hollyhocks, and on the other side will be lilacs (currently raspberries but they need moved).

It's a spot about 4/5 feet long by 3 feet deep. i'm not sure exactly how much sun it gets, but it's probably either shade or part-shade. I need some suggestions on any bush or tall perennial to put there that will do in shadey conditions. It is up against the neighbors house, which they have neglected to paint, so I am trying to get somethinga st all as possible.

I was considering a rambling/climbing rose, but wasn't sure exactly how much sun gets to the little square so that's out of the pictures.

Any ideas? They had these tall things that looked kind of like hellebores, I wish I could remember the name of them!

i know some of you must have a cottagey-answer to my quandery!!!!

If you would like pictures, let me know, it may give you a better idea of the spot, not sure.
