Katsu, I love your little Fairy Garden. I look for little spots like that to put something interesting that you just happen to run across. It really makes your garden interesting and kids love it. Where did you find your rock with that saying on it? I ususally find them with a one or two words on it. I would love to find a website that has an assortment of rocks like that with different sayings.

The fairy cottage was a "fishing lodge" birdhouse I found on clearance last summer ;-) Floral moss has faded over time although the fairy dust (glitter) and everything else glued on is holding up fine.

Carol, the flat stone is one I found rock hunting. I wrote the verse with a paint pen. Saw the first half on a garden sign somewhere?...the rest of it is my own wording.

Today a co-worker was telling a story about an uncle who told the kids that the fairy people played under the leaves of the rhubarb. She said that the kids would pick flowers and put them in a ring and sit in the garden pathway just waiting for them to appear and dance in the circle!

Cute! I will have to find a spot to plant a fairy garden with my nieces.

My mother in law had a vine with big pods on it growing up a trellis next to their gazebo last year. I can't recall the name of the vine, but if you tear the pods open, they are full of white fluff. Anyways, the grandchildren, of course, wanted to pick off the pods and pull out the fluff. We managed to stop them by telling them that each of the pods contained a little sleeping fairy boy or girl, and that if you pulled them off and broke them open, it would kill the fairies. So they left them alone. I'm going to have to share the 'fairy garden' idea with her. I bet she'll want to put one in next to her 'fairy pods'!!

Katsu just enchantingly charming!! Do I spy a gorgeous hosta called Lakeside Looking Glass there? The leaves almost look like mirrors.

Being a lover of all things fantasy I can appreciate the fairy garden. I'm trying to incorporate more fantastical type things throughout my gardens. For me, though, this means dragons and castles and such.

I love this idea. It fits what I try to do in my yard. We get so much rain here so I had to figure out some place to do it where it isn't rained on all the time. When I was out snipping and picking I noted that I have 4' all the way across the house under the eves that is bone dry all the time. I could do something really cool somewhere in that area. Now I'm on the lookout for some really interesting cottagey looking birdhouses and accessories. My projects always evolve so I only have the beginning ideas. Thank you so much for this post. Here's my fairy garden. It was originally a birdbath that the birds never used. I had to use plants that could root in the shallow pan of the birdbath. Luckily these sedums look like a small fairy crop. I added the house and mini wheelbarrow, birdbath, garden tools, brooms, and pots. I forgot to cover it over the winter and it survived just fine, this picture is from the spring.

I read a newspaper article (please don't ask when or where...memory eludes me CRS) some time ago about a man who put a door in a tree along a public walk. Children were encouraged to put messages in it for the fairy. The man retrieved any messages every night and answered and returned them to the tree. His wife said that some messages were sad and that was hard to read but even then an answer from a fairy helped.

Doesn't that sound really sweet to do? And time in the evenings to answer?

My mom gave them from me and if I had to guess I would say she got them off of ebay in the miniatures category. I think the term for them is willow furniture so you can look for them under twig or willow.
