I too am in Kansas. NE though and we haven't had nearly the rain that many of you to the south of us have.
We are about to drive through Oklahoma and Texas today and are hoping there are no complications due to all the rain they have had either.

The Governor of Alabama has declared next week a "week of prayer for rain". We are the dryest state in the US officially now. So I guess we need to send a map with the prayers so we can be sure we "get what we pray for" !! Caroline

I'm in Texas. For the past two summers, we have had major drought conditions. This time last year parts of our area were on fire.

This year....well, we are having the wettest June on record with last night's rain....lots of things are underwater, including parts of my back yard.

After two years of praying for rain, it is hard to say enough already, but I'm ready. Praying for this system to move on and dump good, soaking rains on dry parts of the country.

Heather, I have been praying that the weather patterns become more even through the world. That where flooding is occurring it dries up ENOUGH, and where drought is occurring, the rains will flow.

Annie is right. I heard even 2 months ago that there has been low pressure stalling over the US for months and months now, getting "stuck" in new air flows. Although people are claiming (and possibly, rightfully so) that the greenhouse effect is accumulating rapidly and changing things so fast, we are also due for a changing of the poles. This could also effect weather in ways we do not yet understand.

Praying you do not flood, we could use a little more rain. Maybe the end of the week (we had two blessed rains in a row , and have been beyond dry) - please pray that the air mass changes and sends a little water our way!

We had a torrential downpour here yesterday afternoon, almost like sitting under a waterfall. We've had wet Junes many times, but not downpours like yesterday afternoon. I was in my greenhouse and had my fingers crossed the roof was going to hold. We are supposed to be back to warm weather next week. I'm praying this rain heads down your way to those who need it.

I don't know your route through TX, or even if you have started your trip, but if you can, google "Texas Road Conditions" and look for the TX DOT link. It will provide you with road closures and there are many, even in the big cities. A major expressway was closed, both east and west bound, in Dallas earlier this week due to flooding. IT WAS A MESS!

I'm sure OK has a smiliar service for travelers. Be very, very careful during your trip. The flooding here is horrendous, and it continues to rain heavily.

As Happy mentioned, we have gone from one extreme to the other..and both are equally awful!

Sending good thoughts to those suffering with drought and hopefully our abundant rainfall will drift in your direction.

Send it my way. We are dry, dry, dry! We desperately need rain. We will gladly take any extra you can send us.

We are in southwest Missouri and we are having one of the wettest seasons on record. It has rained here for several days with let-up in between. Been raining now since 3 am and it is now 6:40 am. I think we have had almost 4 inches since yesterday. Also having tornado warnings nearby. We even took shelter in the cellar yesterday afternoon.

My gardens are beginning to suffer from all the overcast, excess moisture, but we won't complain (too much!) because we are coming off a three-year drought. This has to be better.

I have such sympathies for those with drought. I have never lived in a flood area, but those pictures on TV are just dreadful.

Here hoping this rain pattern spreads out to all who need it.

The thunder came at a distance

The breeze freshens and the plants stretch to heaven.

So much of my garden is water-logged and drooping, in fact it's starting to look like a rain forest out there, so I decided to cut back some flowers, and yank out others to give those beds some breathing room and improve air circulation.

Another worry - After 2 years of terrible drought, and now all this flooding, I understand that there is a strong possibility of foundation problems. I hope that's not going happen!

Please send your rain to Ontario. We are having the worst drought I have seen since I left Texas. And this is on the heels of a winter with little snow. Climate change? It is certainly occuring here!

Yesterday on the way home from work I could see some really black, ominous clouds churning to the west, and slightly south from my route. We had stready rain but nothing like what some other suburban areas received.

Some parts of the metroplex received another 3 inches of rain in just 1 1/2 hours, and that's on top of the existing flooding.

It's thundering as I'm writing this, too. :-(

Annie, I hope you are ok. I just read where several rivers in Oklahoma are cresting.

The closest river is 11 miles away and several hundred feet lower in elevation, so not to worry about the rivers.
Hope all my Texas friends are safe and out of harms way.
My younger son lives in Spring, just north of Houston. Haven't heard a peep out of hims in weeks. Spring has several swampy areas. I bet they are wading. Normally, the snakes there are just awful. Can't go out in the back yard in summer for all the copperheads, and talk about mosquitoes! Can't imaging how it must be right now with all this rain. Jeez! Bet the Geckos are loving it though. :)

BTW, the Four O'Clocks are doing fabulously. I expect them to start blooming soon.
We've had two whole days of sunshine and I was able to mow and trim the grass. Yippee! All my flowers and tomatoes are so happy! But, as I write this, huge thunderheads, probably the ones you mentioned Marilyn, are boiling and rolling in and I think I am beginning to hear some far off rumbling. Boo Hiss!
