Vitex agnus castus - chaste tree

I'd like to try a chaste tree in my yard. Is this a plant you can find at Home Depot or Lowe's? Or is this a plant I'll have to seek out at a nursery? Or mail order?

I got mine at Lowe's about 3 years ago. Never seen it anywhere else. By the way, they lose their leaves in Winter, but they are worth it.

have a light blue bloom one here .most are darker purple. came with the house(12 yrs.), been doing alot of cuttings....see if i can find a pic in the archives......:)....m

Vitex has been in bloom all over town and I have been snapping pictures will my cellphone. Forgive the fuzzy pics but I wanted to share about the beautiful tree, one of my favorites to stop and look at in bloom. Here it is definitely a tree, not a shrub, and my compatriot(e) Natal has a nice picture above of her good-looking Vitex. Someone had sent me seeds 2 years ago, which I had wintersown (2004). This year it bloomed, and currently has those pods as well. Now I can't remember for the life of me, but I could swear those pods were sent to me intact and I planted them that way. But, don't quote me on that. I plan on harvesting my pods if and when they ripen more, if that's what they'll do. Hopefully someone else with more experience will answer. Attached is a link to The Seed Site, showing the seed. I'll keep a lookout at Lowe's this spring. I'd love to see photos. :)

If you go to the seed exchange, someone probably has seed they'll send you. I grew one from seed once, and it grew rather quickly.

Thanks, DG. I'll check over there for seeds, although I'd prefer to start with a larger plant if possible. My patience isn't what it used to be where plants are concerned!
