what should my new plant 'interest' be?

For years it was orchids, at one time I had dozens. But year after year of dragging pots in and out every time it freezes has me less than thrilled with orchids now.

Then, two years ago I discovered epiphyllums and became crazy about them. Freezes ruining this love.

As the number of orchids and epie's dwindles, I'd like to replace them with something, but what? I've searched the stores, the forums, the web, but haven't found anything that would work. As I hadn't even heard of epiphyllum till a couple of years ago, I'm thinking there's something else out there that I haven't heard of that would be perfect. What has amazing flowers or fragrance or wow-appeal, would grow in shade, in trees, in pots, but doesn't have to be brought inside every cold snap?
