Oh Christine, I hope you do! I'm not sure where you are exactly...but usually around July 4th is peak bloom...you'll want to see that!

Also, if you know of some daylily farms in your area, now (I have learned) is a good time to go to see early bloomers. Of course, that means you'll want to go back and see the mids and lates as well...lol...it never ends!

Both of those are so pretty! Is the color pretty accurate on Special Candy? I'm just asking, becaus I found another picture where it looks more white and I like the color of yours better.

Hi Laurie: That picture is accurate. The flower isn't mine, although that would be nice...lol! Belongs to the Millers who were at Mecca this year. I would guess that the Stamile picture you've linked is like a lot...a great picture on a great day on an established plant. Remember, this is a brand new introduction, so other than at the Stamiles, I don't think anyone would have an established clump. Also, I have no way of knowing how many blooms this particular plant has produced...it probably hasn't even been planted a month. Some take a few to get going.

Thanks, Kathy! I enjoy it! I've put up some of the ones blooming in my garden now. I love this time of year! It occurs to me that it's almost a memory exercise as I note what's/who's got first blooms for this year...and then race in to record it in my spreadsheet! Lol!

I digress to say that the spreadsheet with ffo info is so interesting! Isn't it amazing that daylilies can open on the exact same day each year!

Thanks, Nancy! That means a lot to me. I spend way too much time on the blog...however, it makes for a nice journal...that I always mean to keep and never do!

Oh, no...it's not a secret or big deal. I had told Rick he could have a fan and I am just getting back on that. Earthstar sent me a wonderful single fan (bank error in my favor thing) that has now split...and I am just hoping Rick won't mind waiting a bit for the fan. They're very close together, but both have scapes, and I am afraid to divide it just now. I love it! It's a great flower!

Thanks, Debra...but they're not mine. I wish! They belong to the Millers (Small World Gardens) that I visited last Sat. There are more pictures from their gardens on my blog.

I attended a scape grooming clinc at their home, but to no avail, I think! Lol! I have been out and looked around and don't see anything that I think makes the grade for tomorrow. That, or I am not willing to part with a precious scape! My one hope was for Velvet Ribbons because it has been spectacular this year...but it's looking like the bloom it will put out tomorrow is on the one scape (of several) that has unattractive stuff on it. Doggone it! I have been talking (lol) to another scape, but I think it will be Sunday for it. It's still early here...Richmond is 1.5 hrs south and it makes a difference...as you can see from the pictures of their garden!
