I have my first two blooms today. Needless to say I'm thrilled.

Hurray Val! Daylily season begins. Love them both but LAVA FLOW is my pick today. I have always loved Lava Flow. Such a beautiful flower.

Quality flowers. Nights have been too cold here, but next week will be scorching hot, just in time to wither blooms.

Thanks for all the kind comments. My camera did a pretty good job capturing the colors and that's not usually the case. My Paramount stars and stripes bloomed for the first time, too. I love the classics, but it reminds me of Schick flatty cake. Although fc's flowers are much bigger and they smell nice, too. I'm just glad those hybrid pioneers had the imagination and patience to develop these beauties :-) And I owe someone a big THANK YOU. Sorry I don't remember who it was, but they suggested adding vinegar to the water to keep hard water from disfiguring the plants and allowing the plants to access the nutrients in the soil. I've done that all summer and my plants seem much happier. It's too late for most of my Notocactus (a lot of them are very ugly), but I'll do it from now on to prevent future damage.

Jill...you must have been posting at the same time I was, I missed you, sorry! :) Glad you enjoyed my dl's. Tammy...I'm sorry, I failed to answer your question about my camera. It's a Fuji Finepix S700. The macro and super macro capabilities are wonderful as is the 10x optical zoom. It really lets you get up close and personal with your blooms. LOL Shelly....I totally understand, my list just keep growing and growing and growing..kind of like that Energizer bunny, you know? :) I've had MM for a couple of years now, and it's really struttin it's stuff this season. FT is brand new and that was the FFO on it. It's one of my brightest dl's. Chris....You're gonna love AS, it's one of my favs, but then I've got so many fav's!! It is a beautiful collection indeed. I love bi-coloured roses especially Paw Maw. What I love about your collection is they seem to blend well together too. Not one of them seem out of place. I love the rainbow of colours. I love gardens that have all colours. I am definitely not a fan of co-ordinated designer coloured gardens.

Thanks so much for the kind words. summersrhythm - I goofed and miss typed her name and now Houzz will not let me edit my post - she's not Pretty Miss, she's "English Miss", as my best guess. I found her unmarked, as the only iteration of this rose I ever found at a big box store, and was mesmerized with her blooms, that at some point in their growth form (that I didn't capture in that pic) look like camellia blooms. She's own root, and I am so smitten with her. She's always been pretty small as are her blooms, but at about 5 years old she just keeps sprawling a little more each year, and giving me more blooms each year. "'English Miss' is a floribunda rose bred by Roger Pawsey of Cants of Colchester, England, and introduced in 1977.[1][2] It was named in honor of the raiser's three-year-old daughter Sally-Anne.[3]"

Always happy to see those pretty blooms. I think Lava Flow needs to be added to our "in the works" HOT colored flowers section. Looks like it would be right at home. Avedon

Thanks everyone. Nice to join the bloom parade. These two are usually among the first to bloom here. Lava Flow really does brighten up the garden. I was happy to see the first flowers of the year looking so good. That's not always the case here.

LAVA FLOW is very beautiful and photogenic. I wonder if it is related to PARROT PARTY? Other than the color, it resembles it very much.
