Growing them outdoors in the summer is the best way to go. Here in MN we grow them as annuals. You can attempt to take them indoors for winter, but they'll get leggy and weak---when you try to put them back out in spring they take forever to recover---I've found it's not worth the effort. Really the best thing is to buy cuttings every spring, grow them outdoors, and toss them when it freezes. Oh, and yes, your plant is indeed a coleus. There are many different varieties/colors/leaf shapes but what you have could be nothing other than coleus. ;)

I 'think' this is what the little cats are eating: Veronica repens Sunshine Golden Creeping Speedwell I didn't purchase it so I'm guessing. A local garden center gave me some little pots they were throwing away and some still had growing medium in them, along with what appeared to be dead plants. This one was a Steppables or Walkables plant and it just began to grow. I stuck it down in the garden and it continued to grow. It makes such a bright spot of color as it creeps over the top of the soil. Information on-line says the Buckeye/Junonia coenia cats will also eat these plants that I have growing: cudweed Mexican Petunia Ruellia brittoniana cracker Russelia equisetiformis Butterfly Bush Buddleia davidii (says not as favored but will use as host) Mary

I just went into my garden to do a major thinning, the radishes went **crazy** and pulled 95% of them (that's what happens when you get an overzealous friend to assist you who has never planted radish, and myself who is also a radish virgin)...needless to say they were 3' tall and were plenty of coverage for these disgusting earwigs. They have also made a nice little nest for themselves in my artichoke leaves (1st year experiment) AND in my salad box. Couldn't figure out why my lettuce hasn't grown and is being eaten by what appears to be wolves, well they are just wolves in earwigs clothing...buggers!!! I will be trying both the rolled up damp newspaper and the upside down coke bottle with sugar water. I'll update as the funeral of earwigs proceeds. Question: I have raised beds, should I place the newspaper inside the beds near the plants or outside?
