wanted- fig scion wood for- can offer stone fruit + apple scions

i have a petit negron fig tree and due to space constraints, I cant plant any more fig trees, so I want to graft some additional fig varities onto my tree. I can offer several plum, peach, nectarine and apple scions in exchange.

Am interested in any fig varities. please email me if interestedin doing a swap. also happy to just pay for the scions if you dont want to do a swap.

by the way, does fig scion wood need to be harvested during dormant season in the same way stone fruit and apple needs to?

Budding during growing season seem to be more successful than grafting dormant wood. You can try graft dormant wood since it is easier to obtain dormant wood and getting it mailed.

when you talk about budding- are you referring to t-budding?
if yes, should the buds be harvested from dormant wood or should the bud be harvested during growing season. if the latter, presumably, it could still survive 2-3 days in the mail if wrapped in moist paper?

am happy to try and gaft using the budding technique.
anyone willing to trade/sell me some budwood?

Hello Can't you just ship the scions? That's what most people do. I have a nursery and do about 500 or more grafts a year. I get about 900-700 hours of chill depending on year. This year may be way more. Sadly I do not have any plums to give scions to. The plums peaches and apples are what I am looking for. Thanks macmanmatty

Seng, You can order budwood from the Citrus Clonal Protection Program for a nominal cost. They have Chandler, Reinking, Sarawak, Mato Buntan, Kao Pan & Thong Dee pummelo budwood (scions) available 3 times a year. The next cutting is June 12, 2013. They also have a lot of information about Huanglongbing & Asian Citrus Physllid. All their budwood is certified HLB & other known pathogens free. There are strict rules that they explain about using & transferring budwood. You can get started here: http://ccpp.ucr.edu/index.html Be warned, you do NOT want to break the rules. Some nitwits in the LA area imported some HLB infected budwood from Asia a few years ago. The USDA & CDFA chopped down their trees & fined them. Not so terrible. The lawyers with the California citrus growers then went after them & destroyed their lives. Citrus growing in California is a multi-billion dollar industry. They have no mercy for anyone who might harm the industry however innocently. The regulations are not so difficult to learn & follow. Be smart. Good luck with the pummelos!

I'm sure T-budding would work, but I believe chip budding would work better since it can support the growing bud better.
