Dragon's eye pine has lost it's variegated coloring

Hi! I've read the previously posted questions and answers to taking care of a dragon's eye pine. My tree is healthy, and I have planted several in the past at other home locations. But this tree over the past year and a half since planting has lost most of it's variegated color in the needles. It seems to be healthy and has good needle retention. Just not much in the way of striping of the colors. I recently bought a second dragon's eye and planted it in a different location and I don't want the same problem to affect the 2nd pine tree. Looking for answers on restoring the varigation, I'm guessing it might have something to do with the acidity? What do you think? Don
