If I'm not mistaken, Split Personality is similar but not identical. Sunrise Serenade makes little petals behind the main flower, later on in the season, and I think there may be some difference in the color too. It should be interesting to see what you grow since I've never grown Split Personality. Anyone else out there who is more familiar with these two? Mary

Vera, keep us up to date on that puny little MG vine. Maybe it's a mutant. My Sunrise Serenade completely covered the vine pole, and then some; it cascaded down in every direction after it reached the top. It was truly exciting to see and enjoy. The seeds I sent you were from those flowers. I wish I had not deleted all of the pictures I took of it, but I consolidated my files when I did a back-up floppy to install on the new computer. Last year, I grew some Heavenly Blue and some Star of Yelta, and this year I had a couple of volunteers from those plants, so I'm letting them grow up the vine pole. I won't know what I have growing until the blossoms start. Mary

Phyl, I think you will have a big problem with more than one plant in a 10 inch planter. I grew several MG in pots last year. 10 inch pots, 12 inch pots and 10 inch hanging planters. No way could the have handled more than one plant in a pot. Unknown MG and alas no seeds from it either in a 10 inch pot blue silk in a 12 inch pot light blue mt fuji in a 10 inch hanging pot early call blue in a 12 inch pot another unknown in a 10 inch hanging pot Mt fuji dark pink in a 10 inch hanging pot You can grow the MG in the pots with a vertical stake in it as well as something to wrap the vines around on the edges of the pots. I like to use a 2 foot plastic stake in the center of the pot to start the vine around and i put coat hangers in the edges of the pot to weave the vine around till it fills in some. Then i just keep wrapping the vines around each other. In the hanging pots, i wrap the vines around each other and find that they branch out on their own too. if the really start to get too long, i clip off some of the vine and stick it in some moist soil and put the pot in part shade. It roots and i have a new vine that I keep in a small pot and it forces the MG to bloom in the fall on a very small plant. Hope this helps. Fran

Suseart, Your first 3 pictures are of Emma's Gift/aomaraski and the odds are the seeds you got for this morning glory originally came from either me or from someone I traded seeds with or sent seeds out as a BEAP offer. I have been sending out these morning glory seeds for at least 5 years now, either as trades or BEAP offers. I've been growing this morning glory for 6 years now, every since I received my original seeds from a GW member that does lots of morning glory crosses and this was one of her stable crosses that she sent me seeds of. Originally she called it "Emma's gift" and later added the additional name "aomaraski" to her morning glory. It is a very prolific grower either in the ground or in a pot. I usually grow one plant in a 10 inch pot with miracle grow potting mix and let it grow up one side of the railing on my front stairs. It also will produce an abundance of seeds. Last years vine gave me more than 400 seeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. No 2 blooms are alike and you will get dozens of variations in the blooms from the typical streaks to more solids to almost total solid to just about pure white and anything in between. Your 4th and 5th pictures are morning glory Star of Yelta. Another prolific bloomer and produces tons of seeds as well. I have grown both star of yelta and grandpa otts and the blooms appear to be identical too me. Some years I have found that grandpa otts does not grow as tall or as full as star of yelta and other years they appear to be the same. Your last 2 pictures are morning glory split personality. There is no dispute over the difference between split personality and sunrise serenade. Sunrise Serenade is a hige morning glory, also known as a feathered morning glory. Hige morning glory blooms have many splits in the petal of the blooms that can go all the way down to the throat, giving it the appearance of feathers for blooms, hence the feathered name to the morning glory. see pics below from the plantfiles of sunrise serenade plant file picutres of sunrise serenade Morning glory split personality is not a hige/feathered morning glory, but rather has the appearance of splits in the petal shape of the bloom that gives it a different appearance than the typical bloom of a morning glory vine. Sometimes the splits in the bloom can be more pronounced than at other times, hence the term split in the name of the morning glory, split personality.
